Could you please make a video talkinf about what to post / how to market your services on instagram and how that would look. Would you be talking about the algorithm etc and making reels etc within your own content to attract clients? Loving your videos.

I came across this video as my better half is a copywriter and would love further develop her skills as a social media manager. I ended up watching this video myself and found it really helpful. I'm a digital developer, / designer but I could totally relate in some aspects to your approach. You made a great video which will be super helpful for a lot of people! P.S. I'm an introvert - personally, I just put on a front when I need to : )

This is so informative! Do you recommend starting a separate instagram account for your social media management business? I have an IG account where I mostly post travel and adventure things, and I'm thinking it would be good to have another account for social media management stuff since this is a business I'm thinking about getting into ☺️

You should definitely get yourself another social media account for your business because it will be more specific and will be optimized according to your niche

Question on the logistics side is your personal branding “Ellen Mackenzie” also your marketing business name or did you create an LLC for both or just one? I’m assuming you do deals or get paid via this channel and your other personal brand channels so I was curious if you file these in separate accounts/company names etc… for instance I have an LLC for my marketing business but also looking to start working on my own personal branding so theoretically I would make these into two separate streams/ businesses I thought about a DBA but it doesn’t have the same legal protections as an LLC…

I’m not based in the US so we don’t have the same legal systems with LLCs!! So mine is completely different to how you describe. You are best consulting a professional accountant or tax lawyer for advice on this :)

Should you work for free and if so for how long for your first client? OR should you just charge less hourly?

Up to you! Every individual will be different. I did two free clients for one month. That’s what I would say is a good maximum for free work. Otherwise start small and offer a discount!

How do you know which FB groups are legit and not just scammers posting? Do you have any groups you would suggest?

You have to try a bunch! You cant just join one and call it a day. Find 15 and usually 1 or 2 groups will actually prove valuable

Don’t start until you’ve booed your first client. If you want to scale and grow bigger, you’ll most likely want to be present on some kind of social media platform. This is a smart decision and you’ll be building an asset for your company. However, what I will always say is a mistake is ONLY focusing on your Instagram and never actually network or pitch to businesses. That should be your number one goal. And trust me I’ve seen this a million times - SMMs who start and Instagram before having clients very quickly run out of things to post and lose steam in their business. It’s all about balance :)
