Күн бұрын

In the past twenty years, video games have evolved from relatively simple screen representations to complex 3-dimensional worlds where the characters seem to leap off the screen. Along with more complex imagery, the job of video game artists has evolved into a number of different roles, each with its own distinct tasks: concept artist, 2-D animator, 3-D animator, and 2-D texture artist. Charles Lee talks about his career path as a concept artist for RIOT Games.
Charles Lee is co-founder of Kazone Art. He is currently Art Director at Sony Pictures Animation (Formerly Art Lead at Riot Games).
Currently, Charles teaches Environment & Vehicle Design for Entertainment at Kazone Art (LIVE Online Class). This course focuses on the fundamentals of designing an environment and character for video games and film. The student will learn how to select reference and study in composition, digital painting, lighting. This class is essential for the student who wishes to create an awesome art for a portfolio.

@@talvarjitaahan3743 I'm not entirely sure in a professional setting myself, but contributing to communities I'm in has helped me get a lot of minor opportunities I wouldn't have had otherwise. For example, posting consistently in a community and having the head of that community notice your work. Working with one of the heads can get you _more_ recognition on an even higher level.

i am admittedly not a great artist. i’ve been drawing for a while but only started taking it seriously my senior year of high school. i started engineering school this semester, hated it and changed my major and hope that i can improve enough to build a portfolio and potentially work as a riot artist one day. i’m not really sure where to start tho, i’m mainly focusing on perfecting anatomy before i get to style and all that but i just don’t really know where to go from there.

Fellow Pinoys count me in. It's really saddening how we don't have that much opportunity here. I'm taking fine arts in college right now cause it's the only art related course available in my province, definitely not enjoying it. I kinda wish we have art courses here in line with getting to this kind of industry, cause I always wanted to be a concept artist.

Graphic design student here and my opinion in this based on my peers in my major who are also artists and freelancers is that you should still go to school. I don’t know about Art colleges in the Philippines but at the very least get a minor or major in Business. Because if you’re going towards the freelance route, you’ll have to learn to market and manage yourself. A major in graphic design will still help grow your creativity and design process but if I’d known art bootcamps exist, I would’ve gone for that instead. Where I live it costs about $9,000 or more but that’s still cheaper than university education.

I think the majority of artists and animators working there don't give a flying fuck about all that nose dude .. They just there to work on something cool and call it a day....Then they can switch jobs.. Riot would be good on ur CV.. and thats that. Really, You should not invest your brain cells on these people or what noise SJW do online... its just cancers trash that should never be consumed Period.
