Hi!!! Below is my short Bio
I am a Chief Engineer by profession.
I have been sailing for the last 14 years. Passed out from MERI Kolkata in the year 2008. Joined Seaarland Ship Management as an Engine Cadet, over the course I have sailed in the past with British Petroleum and Anglo-Eastern as well.
With the help of YT Channel Merchant Navy Decoded and the website www.merchantnavydecoded.com, we are trying to make this profession more transparent. All our endeavors are towards promoting good shipping companies, good colleges and sharing updated information about the same.
There are so many myths attached to this profession and so many fraudulent activities operational that sometimes even students with good backgrounds land themselves into bad Shipping Companies. Futures have been destroyed because of lack of proper guidance and this KZfaq channel will try its best to help those who are in need to get into a good shipping company.

Sir, The details you share was of promotion was of the manegement companies or ownership companies? As sir in manegement companies it takes some less time and ownership companies larger time. And sir 30 months/36 months was the seatime(on duty) time na... It does not include our holidays

Hello sir, good video... Request you to correct some facts... Junior officer time is not counted for full seatime only 2/3rd is counted, Also after getting 2nd mates license 36 months would not be of any value for appearing ASM exams even if u have a mates license. Its always seen as 12 months seatime required after getting ch mates license... After getting 2nd mates license one has to undergo SSO, BTM/BTRM, Type specific ecdis, get coc for goc, DC endorsements, tasco/chemco/gasco There is no mmd exam for getting promoted to 2nd mates, but many companies have exams for promoting to 2nd mates, mates and master. Where they will literally squeeze your brain out. Many companies have this policy to work in shore office for few months prior giving promotion to master. That one exam written and oral for ASM which you said has complete syllabus of 2ñd mate & mates and plus all other laws 🎉 Jai Hind.... ❤
