I think she simplified it a bit too much to keep the answer short for the camera. It sounds like she crammed the alphabet first, then crammed grammar for a week, and then focused on the most common words (but she doesn't say how long or how). It would be interesting if she gave a detailed how to video while explaining more what she actually did. I doubt she learned all the grammar in a week but rather after cramming it for a week she started immersing probably while keeping an eye out for the most common words. But she's a natural at this and often it's hard for people like that to break it down for us mortals.

Grammar in a week is definitely not what happened, I think she's trying to simplify the answer.

I was already watching variety shows and I started studying korean when I already understood some stuff without subtitles so it wasn’t completely new to me but I didn’t know how to read or write or grammar or even common words so I started with Hangeul and it was so much easier than it looked and then for one week I was learning common words (just googled 10000 common korean words and there was a page that led me to TOPIK study materials which had elementary intermediate and advanced word documents) and I recognized many words so I tried incorporating grammar right away. The whole thing took me around a week (+2 days maybe not exactly a week week) but trust me I have crazy episodes like that sometimes 😅 I get hooked up on something so much that I basically don’t care about anything else… that happened with korean and during that one week I got completely possessed, skipped school, didn’t sleep, sticky notes all over the house, mumbling to myself 😅 my mum had to skip work and forcefully feed me cos i didn’t even eat and she thought I was crazy (fair enough) 🤣🤣 worked out well in the end but I feel like I was possessed for a week lol 🤣🤣🤣 obviously you can’t learn the whole language in one week but with korean it’s possible to get the right foundation and then you can build up on that ^^ after that I started a job at a Korean travel agency and was lucky enough to practice my skills irl so I guess luck played a big part too 😵‍💫 I have a video about this on my channel so you can check it out for all the details and tips 🥰

@@gladysray8824 I'm highly sensitive to sound sensory, so her pronunciation is not 100% there for me yet (more like 96%). Small example, when she said "배우고 싶었는데" the 싶었" didn't sound completely 100% native to me. I would be able to tell she's not native if someone had me purely listen to her and she didn't reveal she was from Georgia. But I am curious what my family and friends will think. I'll show this to them.^^ She's absolutely amazing though no doubt. I mean, topik level 6 proves her proficiency...I'm just saying there are parts of her Korean where the pronunciation didn't sound completely native to me.

It's crazy to me that some people's speaking skills and writing, reading and listening skills can be so different. Like that girl from Germany said she was a topik level 6 but if I just listen to her when she's speaking she sounds like a level 3 to me. I think it's cause the speaking skill doesn't really actively get developed from studying writing, reading and listening so speaking is something you have to develop seperately by going out and speaking every day.

Hi, I'm that girl from Germany 😂 I wanted to clarify that my speaking skills are better in real life, I was just really nervous (this was my first time doing an interview) 😅 and yes, I agree, you have to study speaking separately in order to develop your speaking skills.

@@alenatavukcuoglu4029 Hi! Hope you didn't take any offense, I wasn't trying to be rude. And it's definitely not just you, generally I've seen a lot of people get a high topik score and then not being able to speak at the same level which always amazes me in that way that some skills are very seperately developed, but I guess that's also why there's a seperate topik for speaking. But yes, I can definitely understand being nervous while being put on the spot like that, I can relate from all the speaking exams I had to go through in language school haha 😆

My two best friends are from South Korean so I became really interested in the language right away. I speak Spanish as well and I did notice that the pronunciation of Spanish vowels and Korean vowels are exactly the same, same with the pronunciation of some consonants. I started learning Korean couple months ago on my own through k-dramas and now I can pick up to 30 % of the conversation without reading the subtitles. Korean is a language that is pretty straightforward. So… to my Spanish speaking people, if you can learn Korean from a Spanish speaking person do so, because you will pick it up in a blink. Best of luck!💜

If you want to progress in Korean you already need the basics. yes it is true that if you do not have more than 500 words or even 1000 words of vocabulary at the beginning you will not be able to speak in Korean and you need to learn the basic grammar. you also need to be able to keep a diary and write your own dialogues which will allow you to be able to hold a dialogue in Korean and you must rehearse every day which will allow you to be comfortable with the language. This is only the beginning because as you see in the Korean language there are also different levels of politeness. This will cause you some problems even if you already know the basics because you need to know the verb forms. And also be able to construct complex sentences this is the next level. With all this you will have difficulty even holding a dialogue. So, I advise you to have someone who speaks Korean with whom you can make progress in the language and above all be able to speak and practice pronunciation so as not to say stupid things.

It's been like a week I'm practicing it and I still forget and mix up some letters 💀💀 I'm feeling so hopeless ; I'm starting to think that becoming fluent in Korean is only achievable by people naturally very good at learning languages in general... One week 5000-10000 words? Wait what? That must be wrong on her part or maybe she's like genius level. In one week maybe you learn the most common 50-100 words (and that after you absolutely master hangul). And that is if you both have the TIME and the state of mind for learning and REALLY practice. Korean is not an easy language. Especially for native speaking english people. There's sounds that simply don't transcribe well in Korean and viceversa. In addition to that, even the way they use words is not the same. Not even the order in a simple sentence is the same. I think the first girl REALLY oversimplified the process but in doing so kind of discouraged the viewers by putting unnecessary pressure on fresh students of the language. Or she was rizzing her own genius, which I doubt. I simply think she oversimplified the process and also made a mistake at the same time. Hangul might be easy to learn it as a machine. But again, you can't learn hangul in 20 minutes, never repeat it and expect to know it 2 days later. That's just machine leaning which is not good nor natural. PROPER hangul takes about 2-3 weeks for the average person to really memorize it without any additional issues. But that's just the hangul which helps you read the most basic sentences. Because reading sentences and knowing what you've just read or if you even pronounced it correctly, is a different story in itself. Whenever I hear these "you can learn hangul in just 2 hours. it's that easy" I feel like it creates these FALSE expectations for Korean language to be something you can just pick up. It isn't. You need LOTS of practice, LOTS of studying on your own (a teacher is also helpful to give you guidance and confidence and approach your mistakes) and lots of watching other people speak Korean, AS WELL AS interacting with Koreans yourself. Hence why a teacher is also nice to have if you can afford it because you will inevitably have someone to pull you into basic conversations. All in all, my comment is made not to scare people away but more so to encourage people to be REALISTIC about learning Korean. It's possible and it is a beautiful language (for me at least) but it's definitely one of the harder ones to learn. It's not Chinese but also not Spanish.

20 Minutes for the alphabet? Never. I can't believe it. Yes, it's easy but the status "learned" comes not after 20 minutes. Moreover, I don't get the time periods of the first person: - Studying for 1 week - Practicing for 1 month - After that "only" work (real life practice of course) One week for basic grammer is ok I think (depending what you are considering basic here) but 5,000 up to 10,000 words in ONE week? I can't believe this. This would imply over 700 words per day just to "learn" 5k words. Even if add the the 1 month practice to it it's still over 130 words per day. The time period seems a bit of for me here. However, her Korean is very good! Always astonishing to me how well some people can learn a language.
