I have worked in Sweden for few months in 1997, my impression about this country and it's people is globally positive. I was impressed by the beauty of women there, people r very polite, even exaggeratedly polite... on the other hand, they drink so much alcohol, (it's not rare to see drunken men and women in the streets on weekends). A Swede may be shy and polite, but the viking warrior appears on him when he's a little drunken... Greetings to all Scandinavian friends!
@lookandshot13149 жыл бұрын
I see that it was only a few months, that´s why you´re so positive about swediots. Polite? They don´t even hold the door up for a woman, snuffing all the time, blowing their nose on the streets, etc. Very polite! Vikings are from Denmark, forgot it. Scandinavian friends! That was the best! Friends! Try to ask them for something minimal and you will never hear about them again. Sad if you call them "friend".

Disabler sad that most of these notes aren't actually, you know... True. I mean, yes, we do have "niggerball" as a snack - which recently got labeled racist and now changed to Chocolate ball which is still in dispute as people never thought of it as racist and now claims that claiming it to be racist labels it as such and makes it racist without it being intended to be racist... Long story short, people freaked the fuck out.
@DarkAngelEU9 жыл бұрын

You forgot one thing. The most holy act for a swedish ateist, the fika.(for those who do not know it is a litel desert kind of thing sweds take as a snack, it is usualy coffe and some sort of backing) In fika never take the last cookie or whar ever they serve.

Translation: "You forgot one thing. The most holy act for a Swedish athiest (and also non athiests), the fika. (A coffee break, where you drink coffee, usually, and have some sort of pastry) When you take a fika, never take the last cookie or piece of anything served." Heh heh... After the fika, I usually eat the last piece because it will just sit there for days and end up being thrown out because nobody else dares to eat it.

I saw a video about this from the early 90's (probably a clip from a Swedish comedy series) on how to behave in Sweden: don't smile or act happy in public, don't talk to people at the bus stop, don't yell at children who are urinating on your car, and most important, don't act happy in public....though if you really can't help it, celebrate by getting drunk (although that might no longer be feasible in Sweden as I hear alcohol has gotten very expensive.)

I feel that if I'm to close to someone I'm attacking that persons space so to speak. (I can only refer to myself as I prefer being left alone). The only real place I willingly get into contact with new people is in my job. Speaking of which I think that the easiest "targets" for friends are Co-workers, other students, etc.. It's usually easy to get in contact with people if you're having lunch, and simply ask if there's a empty seat, start slowly asking/answering some questions and most open

I've seen multiple Swedes talking about not being able to be proud, because it may be offensive. I would like to think my Swedish ancestors would not have been so gutless, is this what Swedes have been reduced to? It saddens me...
@the_Beef_Man10 жыл бұрын
Det gör mig ledsen att blod bror!
@andreasrubenson25879 жыл бұрын
albinotatertot In a way, yes. Sweden, today, looks down upon soldiers, for example, and often spit on them - which is sad. We are no longer allowed to show any pride towards our country in school, such as singing out national anthem. However, we now have our national day off, which was changed quite recently. That's a good thing, but there's not much pride to show. On the Internet most Swedes are very proud, as we know that our country's structure is one of the best in the world. We also have some of the best traditions in the world, most of them just being great excuses to drink a fuckload of alcohol - such as Midsummer. We also celebrate a lot of food, such as Lobster and Cinnamon Buns. But, to answer you more direct: In today's Sweden you are not suppose to show yourself to be patriotic or even have pride in Sweden, as that might get you labeled as a nazi, or a racist (I, myself, have been labeled as such many times for stating this like: "I love Sweden" and "I believe that I should have the right to say that you're a cunt, if you're a cunt, whether you're a Swede or not" (The latter I said to an immigrant, and they instantly labeled me racist)).
@albinotatertot9 жыл бұрын
Andreas Rubenson Do you not think that isn't the proper way for a man to be treated in his own country? My friend, leftist legislation and political movements/correctness are trying to strip of your pride and self worth. Why is it that because I am White that I can not be proud? I do not accept this ideological agenda and the Swedes shouldn't either. The inherent freedoms of the Swedes should be prioritized over the sensibilities of foreigners that care little to nothing for your native land. It is simply masqueraded outrageous bigotry that should be stopped immediately. You should be able to have pride and speak your mind like your ancestors once did, not have to cower to your corrupted government that follows a social agenda or cow tail to foreigners. When I say this I'm not particularly picking on Sweden although it is probably the most effected by this epidemic, I am speaking about the Western nations as a whole. It's pathetic the way our countries have become.
@andreasrubenson25879 жыл бұрын
albinotatertot I'm not sure why you addressed this to me. I am very proud to be a Swede. I'm not proud of being white, why would I be? Just like I wouldn't be proud to be black, asian, or whatever. I do not believe anyone should be proud of their colour, nor should anyone be disallowed to be proud because of their colour. That's textbook racism. Sweden still has its own culture, although it is taken away by time. However, what people seem to ignore is that this happens throughout time. If you look at how Europe looked, say, 2000 years ago then you'll see that the country, Sweden, didn't even exist. Borders and culture changes all the time. Jugoslavia vanish, the Soviet Union got fucked etc. Once you accept that history is reality, and repeats itself, then you'll see that this is not really a new issue. Cultures change, who the fuck cares? I will keep my tradition and family values alive. Everyone can choose to do the same, or just not care about your culture. Some are simply not interested.
@albinotatertot9 жыл бұрын
Andreas Rubenson Race is more than skin color and it is foolish and completely contradicting to scientific studies to think other wise. I see no reason as to why I shouldn't be proud of my race, because I am a member of my race not by chance, but rather because of the decisions of my ancestors and fore-bearers. If you recall it was you who replied to my post first and as I've mentioned I am not picking on you or the Swedes specifically, these are general problems in the West. "Everything changes so why care"? That is one of the most foolish and dangerous out looks to have on life. Why care about anything then if thats how you feel? Change is inevitable, but you can change change, I mean to effect a situation in order to achieve your desired out come.
