I prefer using pure white curtains it’s self because they reflect a lot of sunlight just like how the reflective films reflect a lot of sunlight and using reflective films could be hard to remove them for the winter. Unless if you live in the south, then you can use those reflective films for sure to keep them on and add the white curtains on the window to close the curtains to combine with that for it to be double the cooling affect 👍. And using very bright white roofs reflects a crazy amount of sunlight and it will really keep your house temperature down compared to a darker coloured roof.

How much does this cost? Can I do it myself or do I need it professionally done? I have 2 patio sliding doors facing west and 2 other west facing windows. When the sun swings around to hit in these windows my AC can hardly keep up. I also think the west facing windows may help heat the house in the winter on sunny days.

@darkshadewindowtint4727

Ceramic and mirror window films block 99% of UV rays. The ceramic films block between 50%-62% of heat, and the mirror window films block between 55% -75% of heat.

@@darkshadewindowtint4727 When applying to the inside of the windows, they get extremely hot to touch, have you ever had a window break due to the heat? Also, i would like to be able to see out my windows, still set all of my plants next to my windows etc... so others cannot see in but i can still see out. Would the Clear or Dark film be best

I thought films slowly ruin anything that's more than single pane, because you're not blocking the heat if you install it from the inside of the window, you're heating up the internal pane

From which side we should apply on window glass...from inside or outside
@Alexandra-Rex
@Alexandra-Rex 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the film, make sure to get one for how you want it. I would think an outside film is better, but might get worn faster as it's exposed to the elements. I use on the outside, so the film stops the heat and light from even hitting the window.
@yayciencia
@yayciencia 2 жыл бұрын
I use them on both sides. The instructions said to put it on the inside. The inside film has lasted longer. The outside film started smelling like vinegar after two years (chemically degrading) so you'll need to replace the outside film more often but I think the benefit of less heat hitting the window was worth it.

Won't the heat come in anyway? It warms up the window from the outside. Stopping the heat from getting into the house would be more effectiv, no? Even your test was done outside without a window. As I understand it, once the window is warm you've got heat in your home.

Just use pure white curtains instead they help just as much and will not absorb heat like how darker colour curtains do. Pure white curtains reflect 80 to 90% of sunlight which is very good, because considering those who use darker colour curtains one, exposed to the sunlight, only reflects 10 to 20% of sunlight, which doesn’t do much to cooling down the room except make the room hotter.

@Cotronixco then use white blinds instead so you can see though the window and it reflects sunlight at the same time when you tilt the white blinds to the right area so the sun is hitting it to reflect.

Hahha! It's hilarious! Have you tested one of your product or a similar one? Go with a thermometer if you do not have a thermal sensor... Guys, stop this! Your window will become very hot if you have the sun that comes right into it... (It would have been better on the outside!)
