I been watching Britec's channel ever since the Windows XP days since I started my IT career as an intern back then and he has always been very informative and detailed on sharing his knowledge regarding configuring and fixing your computer. @Britec09 I tried to advise this tech-tuber, by posting the command in chat, during this particular live stream. However, he said that the word {default} within brackets was incorrect. That I must have simply googled it and that I was offering bad advice and didn't know what I was talking about. I even provided a link in the chat, which confirmed that this command was in deed the proper command. I've used this command myself many times and I know that it works. Thanks for confirming that this is indeed the correct command. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Thanks Brian,usually doing Remote Service and rely on Teamviewer for switch to safe mode. Agree always good to know two or three ways to affect settings changes on Windows, if for nothing else than to keep up with Microsoft's "Changes" By the way you sound healthy again Brian, Good For You. I do see one problem. If you boot into safe mode and you don't know the command to restore your system then what. Are you forever stuck in safe mode?

Hello, I need help! My windows 10 pc refuses to go into safe mode whatever I try as it's in a continuous repair loop after trying system restore . It won't go in from command prompt or from troubleshoot - startup settings. I select 5 for safe mode with network but simply goes back to saying there's a problem! Alright so, this is helpful, but currently my computer is having a problem where everytime I restart it, it gives me a blue screen error and restarts. This means it doesn't restart me into safe mode, even when using command prompt. Is there any way to fix this using command prompt or something else? I can't actually get to my desktop either, I'm stuck at the "Choose an option" screen. I've tried to reset my computer, but I literally can't reset it, and I can't do anything else. I've tried to use other commands on command prompt, but nothing is working.

All I got was “An error occurred while attempting to reference the specified entry. The system cannot find the file specified”

You are amazing...... You helped me I was unable to get out of the alternate shell but with your command I relogin back into safe mode and than selected minimal option.... And tada I exit safe mode. 😊

When I pressed enter it just said "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device could not be found. " I got to cmd prompt via the win10 install usb and changing my boot sequence on the bios. Having black screen after home screen on win 10 but dont know my password so recovery wont let me do anything. Any ideas?

The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The configuration registry database is corrupt.😭

I typed in bcdedit /set {default} safeboot mininal the computer said “The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device could not be found.”

Currently stuck in an automatic repair loop, last thing i did was change from selective startup to normal boot and even from cmd in the automatic repair menus i cant even get to safe boot this way. Is there a command to boot into the selective boot?

"the boot configuration data store could not be opened. access is denied i ran command prompt from task manager > new task > cmd.exe the system has some kind of update issue and all i can see is a black screen after login and i can only access task manager and CMD prompt, i cant get into any system files or the start/search menu

I'm having a hard time uninstalling Kingsoft antivirus program from my Asus desktop computer. It installed without my consent or approval and even when I log on with administrative rights, I can't seem to uninstall it. The tabs and buttons are in Chinese so I can't read them to make the proper selection to run the uninstall procedure...

Just wondering but what could stop someone booting into safe mode the normal way? Iv put the msconfig icon on to my task bar, that seems to be ok.

Thx somehow my graphics driver got screwed up and i had to use a windows usb to get a command promt and turn on save mode xD

I don't suppose you'd know how to bypass bit locker at start up? My brother passed away in 2016 and I have a surface (charges with micro USB). I can't get in. I just want to wipe it really. It wasn't his main machine and I got into his surface pro 2 that was the main device
