Just did it on my own for the first time. I used two and a half packet of the 82 inches x-pression by cutting each packet in half. It took about 5 hours and I think it looks okay. (To anyone who sees this, I wish you a wonderful day.)
@SmolBeefPatty
@SmolBeefPatty 4 жыл бұрын
So 2 packs of x-pression would be enough for box braids this thick? 🙂 Because it's like 60 bucks a pack in my country. I was tripping when she said 15 packs😂

A secret that y'all should know, dip the middle of a small towel in hot water, twist both ends to ring excess water from towel, put hot towel on top of the box braids where you hope water cannot go. Leave for a couple of seconds. Makes the top of braids super flat

The problem that many black people have with white people wearing hairstyles like this is that white people assume the only reason we braid our hair is for fads, styles, and to look cool. But, that isn't the case. Braids are essential for African hair. It strengthens it, protects it, and helps it grow. The types of braids African people wear will actually damage and break white people's hair, because their hair is a lot more fragile than ours. Africans have invented more hairstyles than any other ethnic groups on this planet! Google some of the hairstyles worn by Africans, your mind will be blown away. None Africans are welcome to wear any of these hairstyles. Just make sure that when black people are discriminated for these hairstyles, you come forward to defend us as eagerly as you were to wear our hairstyles. That's all we ask. This isn't a fad for us. We have been doing it for thousands of years!

I'm a white girl and am actually gonna get box braids next month but I'm not braiding as tight because you are right, our hair breaks! Did you know it was actually illegal in the 60's for black people to braid their hair because it was a "sign of rebellion"? Isn't that crazy? I learned it in cos school but I've been watching these videos and I feel terrible that some African Americans get really offended because the braids are so beautiful! I think we all take from different cultures such as kimonos from Asia, makeup from Egypt and even pizza from Italy lol! I feel like as long as the culture is appreciated and respected and recognized for their creativity and innovation there is no problem but when people, like Kim K get recognized as being a "fashion forward inspo" for representing another cultures style, that's when things get a little offensive and off kilter.

I'm white and watching this at 1 am when I should be sleeping because it's so beautiful and satisfying. I grew up in an area with very few black people and I didn't know how much of a process this is! I also had no idea it lasts like a month. That's crazy and awesome.

I feel like such a failure as a black girl tbh...I'm freaking 18 years old and I've never known my hair type. 2. Whenever I install braids with fake hair, I leave em in for _3 months_... 3. I don't even know how to freaking fix my edges. I basically spoiled my hairline so much fuck. 4. I'm woke but I feel ashamed that I still don't accept my hair and I hate fact that I don't know what to do with it. 😢 I really do not, wanna go back to do a curly/perm but I'm scared of doing a big chop. 😭

It's alright. I'm a 17 and I'm just now learning how to do my own hair. You good. I'm not sure if you're natural but I am and you really shouldn't go back to a relaxer. A big chop isn't necessary you can just slowly grow it out if you want to. I grew it out for a bit and then just cut the rest of it all. You're not a failure, you've got plenty of time to find what you need. But as a side note never leave weave in for that long. My maximum is 2 months if that.

How about big chop then get braids? Hair type doesn't matter as much as hair health

Find a really good black hair salon that specializes in natural hair. U have to know that having a certain length of hair does not mean your hair is healthy. You will have to start trimming/cutting your hair in order to see any growth so the dead ends come off. Don't worry about hair type. once u get some growth of your natural hair u will see how smooth the comb will run through your hair like butter and when it reaches the perm side it will be hard to comb. This is the main reason I chopped like 3-4 inches off at a time becus I started to fall in love with my new hair. And I was 18 as well.
