3 rubber bands at the top. If you don’t want to cover them, you can put your finger in each to create a gap and snip the band with a pair of nail scissors/clippers real quick. At the end of the day we just snip them. Most people don’t use their nail scissors in a kit and they’re perfect for those hair bands that want to rip out your hair at the end of the day

As a newly single father, I thank you for this! My daughter starts her first day of preschool and needed to find out a new hairstyle for her besides a ponytail! Haha

Genuinely… keep working at it. As long as it isn’t painful, they usually love it and it’s a great bonding time. The more bonding time, the better you get. Win win for all. I’ve been at it for a number of years now and I dare say I’m better than mom. Your fingers will eventually stop feeling awkward and will figure out what to do. All the extra hair ties won’t be necessary and the end product will be school/Christmas picture ready. Oh, and get a spray bottle that sprays wide instead of streams. If your product streams and you can’t make it spray, pour it into a cheap small spray bottle and just keep refilling. Oh, and a rattail comb or even a regular comb replaces mom’s long finger nails for parting. I think a rattail comb sections better, but if you’re afraid of poking her head or scratching her, start with a regular comb. It’s also cleaner in the end.

I learned that with those little rubber bands, you have a higher chance of breakage and split ends, brushing and splitting when the hair is wet.
