HOW TO BREAK THE PIKMIN LIMIT IN PIKMIN 4 (Candypop bud duplication)

Since I can't talk too well on video, I will just type it on here for anyone to read.
This glitch was found by iSiaw and it's where you can dupe specifically Purple, Ice and White Pikmin. All with their own difficulties of duping. If done wrong, it can actually kill a Pikmin without it showing it did kill them. Timing is key and yes I did not able to dupe Ice and White Pikmin but did show that you can kill them from the candypopbud. So it is possible, it just that I couldn't get them to work.
By far the purple Candypopbud is the most easy one to get working, just throw them in right when it's opening up and you should be able to duplicate them. Haven't gotten any purples killed by this so this is very safe to do.
Ice Candypopbud are the second hardest to duplicate Pikmin in. Haven't gotten it to work on video but did show I can kill them from the bud. If anyone else can do it than do let me know in the comments below. Can semi kill Pikmin from the bud tho.
The hardest one is the white candypopbud due to how strict the timing is. Only been able to kill about 3 white pikmin in around 15 mins. You can check the video for the timing if you do want to kill the white Pikmin for some reason.

This is very surreal to me knowing that in the first two games this would be physically impossible due to how much memory was confined on the gamecube.

Its possivle to mod the limit in 2, and at least, on emulators, the game functions up to around 500. Colossal caverns has an option for a 200 limit.

Thanks for spreading the word! I got 336 pikmin from doing this last night (I also posted the footage last night if anyone is curious to see the precursor of three hundred thirty six purple pikmin.) Hopefully, this’ll open up to the wider Pikmin community.

Total of 861 before I stopped because the game was running at about 5-10 frames per second. I think it’s the highest amount here at least. I’ll try 1,000 another day.

After what felt like 5 hours of irl time I surpassed 1,000 Pikmin and a frame rate of like 3 fps.

@@thibaultvallin8074 no, it does not. You just need to add a few fail safes. Fixing killing pikmin could be tricky, but setting a hard limit at 120 should be trivial.

I have a guess on why the pikmin “dies” but it doesn’t count as a death. When you managed to throw it right as the candypop bud was opening, the game still lets you throw more in. When the candypop bud releases the sprouts, the game was never meant to do six sprouts, so the extra Pikmin is (somehow) sent back to the onion, hence why it doesn’t show up on the death counter.

Throwing a Pikmin into a Candypop Bud temporarily lowers the maximum amount of Pikmin on the field before it produces more seeds, so I think what's going on is that Candypop Buds 'delete' Pikmin thrown into them and create more Pikmin seeds. When it takes in more Pikmin than it spits out, the result is a net loss of Pikmin, but the game doesn't register it as a death because the lost Pikmin aren't actually killed.

Also, you should’ve shown whether you can have your captain take some and Oatchi take the others that couldn’t follow the captain due to the limit.

Exit through the last sublevel, then when you are back in the surface, re-enter from the exit

Honestly Flarlic would have been great if they let you do this legally. Instead of forcing you to start with a maximum of 20 they should have let you have 100 at the start, and Flarlic adds more to the limit all the way up to 300 or more.

@@yes3206 Final boss has a damage limit per stun, even with 100 rocks or purples. Edit: Just tested with lightning and successfully bypassed the limit. So I guess we don't need any glitches to one-cycle each phase for the final boss lol.

Ty for the tutorial! The only thing I find wrong is just your channel icon in the corner blocking the pikmin in the field. Hard to tell (unless you say that it happened, which you did) if the pikmin were duplicated or not.

Nope, there’s a tip that states that wild Pikmin won’t spawn if you already have 100 Pikmin, and you can’t use glow seeds either
