Great stuff and the mop is exactly the right colour for happy breeding - way easier than using a peat substrate like most of the old guys do. The moss is great spawning material too. When I had the shop I loved getting the killifish in as there were so many different variations of them with some being incredibly beautiful - the steel blues were probably our most popular ones. Nice work showing people how to make a spawning mop too. Groovy.

i use marbles for the sunken types and cork for the flouting types when making mops for breading. Then i run the flouters under hot water to get them water logged as they sit better in the tank faster. Although there breeding mops i have found most fish seem to like playing within them, so peeps give it a bash and see if your fish like them. Great video sir, Thank you.

Cn u recommend a step by step procedure on hatching them. Thanx Mark... Really appreciate the content u make for ur viewers... Leaps and bounds ahead of other youtubers!

The mop is the right colour if you pick up the eggs : they will be easy to find. But if you see them, don't forget the fish will see them too and may eat some of them. I prefer yellowish mops and I change the mop every 10 days. Also, there is special wool with thin thread that looks like plants in your aquarium.

How long do u leave the mop in
@ChrisJaanes4 жыл бұрын
Making those mop things seems really simple and I definitely think I want to try it, since I have a breeding pair of Notho Killi's but I've never had anywhere to collect the eggs whenever I've spotted them breeding. It might not work out since I don't have separate tanks for breeding etc but worth trying I feel like. Is the wool good to use straight away or should it be treated beforehand in some way to make sure it's tank safe, or should it be good to go? I know this is a fairly old video now but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask!
@MARKSAQUATICS4 жыл бұрын
Make sure you boil the mops first ok. This will remove any dye that is left.

If you breed them in a separate tank can't you just leave the eggs in water with this species and take parent fish and the fry will hatch?

Why my golden killifish mal killed both the feamal i add one more but the mal killifish still deatroy the fen untill the feamal die
@mokure.strategy5 жыл бұрын
The behavior of your individual fish is far more important than generalizations about the species. My local pet store sold me a "pair" and male killed female. 1 to 1 ratio was very wrong! Some sources say to keep males and females apart either in another tank or a separator in between breeding times. Numerous klillifish are also reported to be too aggressive for a community tank. You might breed after water change and ph balancing and live feeding if you are going to keep offspring. You might bring them together to breed periodically just to keep them happy even if yout don't have time to separate eggs.. Perhaps females have a less aggressive temperament and could live in a female mixed species community while males could live in a partitioned tank? Tanks tend to multiply.
