The Japanese transportation & logistics infrastructure makes bicycle travel in Japan much more flexible and easier to do.
In this episode, I would like to introduce my recently acquired 29-inch mountain bike with front suspension.
On my last bike trip to Japan, I took my 26-inch mountain bike to Japan and rode it in a local city, and I realized that mountain bikes can easily be used on both regular paved roads and gravel roads.
As I have been riding in unfamiliar areas, I used Google Navigation, which guided me to mountain roads in the countryside, and because the roads were unpaved, I was always worried about punctures with regular road bike tires.
In this respect, mountain bikes have a slightly heavier chassis, but there is no need to worry about punctures, and the feeling of easy and comfortable riding is different.
If we are not try a road race which rides long distances at high speeds, a mountain bike can also be used as a travel bike.
However, recent mountain bikes have larger tires, with 29-inch tires becoming the norm, making them difficult to transport when not riding the bike.
The last time I disassembled my mountain bike and packed it in a special cardboard box for transportation, I was able to send it by air or even domestic transportation in Japan as a delivery package.
It was a very easy and comfortable bike trip.
I am planning to do the same next time and pack my bike in a special cardboard box and transport it to Japan.
