Why does your GoldenDoodle come back shaved from the groomer?
This is Grizzly. He's a four year old F1B Goldendoodle, and we are going to show you why this happens and what you can do to properly brush your doodle at home to prevent it.

Hey make more Doodle videos. This was immensely helpful. Nobody ever taught me like this video so she ended up needing to be shaved. It changed her coat and now it’s much more difficult to brush. I brush her at least every other day with the slicker brush, but apparently I was doing it wrong. So again thank you.

A reputable breeder would have shown you exactly how to take care of the coat. They wouldn't want their puppy going to someone who doesn't know the importance of upkeep, how to, and how often. Unfortunately, there isn't any reputable breeders for doodles.

Same! Mine ended up with a wavy coat and I am super thankful for that after watching this video. I thought the curly coat was the key to less shedding but I am also lucky there because my guy only sheds when I brush and it's minimal!

Right! Like they really just need to brush and comb out the dog’s hair while the dog is wet and has shampoo on its fur. This way, its easier to comb through and doesn’t hurt the dog.

Aw I also have a F1b doodle! He looks like my girl. I adopted her 5 mos ago and she had to get shaved because of matting from previous owners. I've been brushing her several times a week since, in layers down to the skin like you showed, I'm so glad I've been doing it correctly! I just went through her coat to check some areas you mentioned and found some matting in some places I wasn't realizing. I will be trying the cornstarch trick. She is getting groomed next week for the first time since I got her, here's to hoping I did it all right and she doesn't need a shave. Wish me luck! Thanks for the tips!

I´m in love with standard poodles, but still not sure I want to spend so much time by shaving them every month and brush every week (in short clip). Thanks for this informative video. Our GoldenDoodle, Baylee, also an F1B like Grizzly, is almost 4. We’ve recently built a new home and moved, and found a good groomer just a few blocks away. I bought the slicker and de-tangling comb, but now see I was applying them with an inefficient approach. So thanks for the correction! Also, I was not aware of how to use cornstarch as an option to help untangle her mats. So, “bonus”! My one question is: how often in between grooming sessions should I be brushing Baylee? She’s very comfortable with the handling process and pretty much stands still for the duration. I’m just wondering about frequency of brushing. Every day? Every other day? Once a week? Etc. She’s an indoor dog for the most part, takes walks twice a day and has a small yard to play in. Dog park days are few to none in summer/winter, two to four times a month in cooler seasons. Grooming schedule is 6 to 8 weeks, maybe up to 12, depending on the cut and condition of the coat. Just need to get an idea of frequency of brushing between grooming sessions. Thanks.

Any dogs with a longer coat need the same technique for brushing. You must part the hair down to the skin and then brush downwards from the part. It’s called Line Brushing and all dogs with a longer coat need their hair brushed this way and you always want a slicker brush and a comb for proper at-home brushing in between grooms and you want to make sure you brush them 2-3 times per week and get them groomed every 5-7 weeks to maintain a long coat!

I had to resign as a full-time school bus driver so I lost that income. I have two golden doodles & can't afford to take them to a groomer anymore. I have human shears with the long comb attachment but somehow I still nicked her ear. Now I'm scissor trimming & that looks choppy🙀 "Thank U" for taking the time to explain😊
