hey john well i went and got an oak chair that was loose and some worn patches on it . i washed it and glued it up. then i decided to leave the orig finish and just do some LIGHT stain in the lighter spots to even it out. then i put 3 coats of poly on it. i didnt have any furn wax or polishes, so i dug out my hardshell turle wax for my car. man does that stuff work awesome;];];];];] high shine and hard finish;];];];] cant beat it;];];] great job on that table....i got my sewing cabinet done and in the sewing room . i sure love all the work that went into it;];];] i now have a 3 drawer 50s hard vermont maple dresser i just got done stripping , with citrus strip.and washed it down. put a pre stain on it let that dry over nite. now im putting on golden oak stain on it. i absolutely love the grains in it!!!! sooooo much better then that awful orangy reddish stain they used back then !!! its like that cedar chest you did, its the surprise under the old finish that makes the whole job worth it;];];];] thats what keeps me wanting to do more;];];] great job and keep them coming;];];]

That was some nice graining on that dining table! Nice to see a mechanized version of a French Polish..Wouldn't that be similar to one? On a personal note, nice to see the Doggie running around with the Zoomies. He was having a great time of it out there. You can see the fields just starting to be wearing the Autumn's colors. Our nights here in Chicago are starting to head down to the low and mid 40's now. Jacket weather. As always, thanks for the Video!

I could hear it instantly. The shine difference on camera is huge! Let alone in real life. It seems like a similar system to cut and polish on a car? Excellent tutorial! Subbed and liked. 🙂👍👍👍

I never did much on a car but I think it's the same! I started using a clay bar too that's for auto finishes and it buffs out a finish so fast and easy and looks amazing!

Hi! Thank you for very useful video and great tips. I tried to do something similar, but something went a bit off, so I’m kindly asking you for an advice: I have a wooden IKEA table. Its top made of several wooden blocks, so it’s not a single sheet of wood. I dyed it using water-based dye, and covered it with the first coat of polyurethane lacquer. The thing is that after applying the first coat I can see that the surface gone patchy - some wooden blocks are glossy and smooth, and some - dull and a bit rough to the touch, where the wood absorbed the lacquer. I was going to use fine sandpaper to even the surface after the first coat of lacquer. But now I’m a bit confused as I don’t know if I could damage the dye layer on the dull patches and expose the wood, as it is obviously very thin. What would you suggest to do in this case? I was going to do at least three coats of lacquer with sanding in between.

I'm a mechanic by trade and have been one for just over 2 decades now, I've buffed more cars than most people have had mornings , it seems like it's a very similar process with slight variances. My Aunt just refinished a wooden desk and was asking me to Buff it. I've never been afraid of a challenge or trying something new , so I said " sure...no problem " that was the kiss of death. 🙄🤔😉 I had a couple questions about recommended materials....? If I could bother anyone with them....? What rubbing compound are you using ? I usually use a 3M rubbing compound on cars , the wet sand usually takes after application of initial base coat and again until base is smooth , then continues after clear coat is laid down. Once you're satisfied with your finish you wipe down or wash the car off , mild detergent soap ( if any soap at all ) then apply rubbing compound and start buffing. Once you've got a good Buff on different cars and colors swirl remover or hand glaze can be used and ultimately you finish with a couple coats of wax. Is it the same compounds for wood ? Technically cars used to be painted in lacquer and I believe most varnishes are lacquer, but I want to be sure , any help would be greatly appreciated.... and I can send you before and after shots of the work to see how it turned out. #1 is there a specialty rubbing compound for wood ? Or one you specifically recommend ? On a side note might not be a bad idea to help buck for sponsorship by taking a minute during your video to say " I always use a 3M heavy duty wood vaporizer rubbing compound, it works better than ...blah blah blah " then your next video might be sponsored by 3M #2 do you ever do a multi stage Buff on wood projects you've worked on ? If yes.... what brand(s) would you recommend ? #3 is there a final " wax coat " that could be applied to the wood when finished ? Like the cherry on a sundae , or as the Stooges would say " A masskaZeeno cherry " or " a tootsie fruitsie " or is the Buff more than enough ?

Looks good and great information John! Can you just buff polyurethane finish or do you recommend spraying lacquer over poly finish? Also, how long after freshly poly finish can buffing take place? Thirty days perhaps? Thanks. Chris.

Actually just fyi sheep aren't harmed when they are sheared, the same way horses need to have their hooves trimmed and shoed sheep need to be sheared otherwise they overheat in the summer but also you would be amazed at how heavy a coat of wool is on a sheep, sheep actually look skinny without all their wool lol
