I was so lucky to have a contract with an age care company that needed a lawn care service. I wasn’t able to do the hard work with marketing but I take my blessing. In my first year I do 10 jobs a day for 5 days a week and get 80 per job and made 192k in my first year After hiring 10 staff and being able to pay them the highest wage in lawn care. I’m officially over 2 million net profit a year in my 2nd year. But for those who are watching this, he is absolutely right! You can literally cut grass and become a millionaire with nothing but 10k capitol. Just don’t forget to treat your employees good and they will give you the lifestyle you dreamed of :)

Thank you for all the great advice you give mike, I’m one of those channels that does the tall grass videos, but would prefer to just grow my mowing business. Mowing normal yards usually pays better than youtube. I see why other channels have quit, I gotta get an actual business going with employees before I get to old to be a solo operator.

I started with used crappy equipment till I was able to upgrade organically. The simple desire or will is plenty to get going. You can circumvent marketing by using apps for work. Larger cities usually have a good chance at multiple phone apps to work from. ;) I’m using your door hanger tactic the last week. The first 14 hangers got me immediate 2 feed backs! It felt good stepping out of my comfort zone and being uncomfortable.

This video brings it all together for me. I’ve watched it four or five times already and will refer back to it as I make progress in my first year. Thanks Mike. Anyone that is following the business course or following your videos just needs to buy your media package. You will save yourself headaches. Any one that has doubts just know we have no affiliation with Augusta. So all of the information and services Mike is providing will save you from making some mistakes which in turn is time and money. BTW mailers do work in our failed mailer attempt I sent out 20 of the 2000 post cards I had made just to do a field test on the results. I did a Zillow search of recently sold homes in our town. I had 3 people call in and one turned in to a recurring customer. That customer had us re landscape their front yard and next year we will be redesigning their back yard for a landscaping project in conjunction with a pool. So in Mikes words “Let’s Go”

Hey Mike! Great content for this industry. I am starting a lawn care service and am super new to this industry, and from my past companies, I have learned how important a great busniess is to the company. I have a question that would really ampact the way we open our services these next two months. The equipment we have 3 fully equipment truck and trailer with all the mowing equipment. The marketing budget is built to enter our market as the company has been in service for some years, and also funds to fill Roles for the company. I would like to be a able to connect with you over a call or some other way to discuss the plans and where I would like to scale the company with built processes and be a process driven company, so that my time is not in the day to day and more allowing a team run the business by following the processes.

I have lawns I mow for over $200 a cut. My hourly rate is $80, which is my minimum of $40 a cut times 2, because I average 2 lawns an hour solo. I don't have a website or wear even a t shirt with a logo. I wear standard t shirts, usually yellow or orange to be visible to traffic and dickies work pants khaki or olive drab. I like to think my work clothes present a professional appearance. Give a quality service and the customer will pay, and if they want to be cheap. Then get rid of them.
@gg32484
@gg32484 Жыл бұрын
I pretty much agree with everything you said, but I dont believe the last part is gonna work where you raised prices on existing customers by 50%. Taking a lawn that is $50 and making it $75 after 6 months just because you have a website. You didn't get those with a website, so why do they care and they aren't gonna pay the premium. I do believe that is when you can start charging the new customers the premium though. Also this is gonna be working from sun up to sun down with this much work and only a 21 inch mower and you are gonna be physically exhausted. Time to invest in commercial equipment that is more productive at that point. I really like how you break everything down in this video though. Good video. Wish I would of had this info 20 years ago.

He mentioned 60 customers for a cut. Only using 21" Honda. These lawns only 1k sq.ft? Otherwise, 1/4 or 1/2 acre mows would between 2 to 5 hours, each. There is only 167 hours in a week.

After watching this again, I find it silly to even offer landscaping until your doing 250k+ in revenue. Probably higher. If a customer wants is, sub it out to a guy who does strictly landscaping. You want your guys to be super proficient at one thing. Lawn care. Hire a guy to service the 32 clients with you, while repeating the direct marketing campaign. Now you’ve got a 100k/year business. Do it one more time, get off the truck at 150k, and focus strictly on marketing/hiring/sales. Do this and you’ll be at 250k by end of year 1…. I would recommend staying there while you accumulate more cash. Offer landscaping after doing 1 mil per year in strictly lawn care. Open your own landscaping division, to specialize in that.

Great video but flyers and door knocking looks like you’re begging for work. You’re only going to get very low end clients that fizzle out fast if you get paid at all.

Mike, the correct phrase is, “I COULDN’T care less.” That means you have absolutely no degree of caring about that topic. Saying, “I COULD care less” implies you have some degree of caring, and you could even care less.

Why did you choose the dog for your mascott? I would like to see you talk about that at some point if you haven't. When I think of dogs, I think of land mines all over the yard, and that turns me off. Why do you think the dog works for you, because it obviously has.

Customers who pay good money want stripes. They also want workers that show up at your beck and call, its their home and their money. Rich Boy had plenty of back. This video is designed and marketed by idiots to attract suckers. Would you loan a million to people who would actually do a quallity service to long term customers? I doubt it

@@MikeAndes You know what... Getting people to use your overpriced services to keep your competition broke seems pretty low. Keep your competition broke by selling them stuff they dont need with ideas that dont work. You are a good salesman, but what you are doing will only hurt a new business owner.
