I was very excited when Winspace reached out asking if I would be interested in checking out their new Agile frame.
As Winspace has been on my radar since years, of course I accepted the offer.
So in this video we will be building up this frame to a proper Road Machine. But is it here to stay or is it not for me?

Nice build,with clear details on the brake hoses (pin ,olive, screw). At the end however I missed the filling with oil in the brake hoses, but I think you already had that covered in another video, so it seems that that was no hassle and similar to Shimano. Great video, thanks for making it! Is the expander plug that you used the one that came with the frame set? Or did you buy that separately to be compatible with the stem? I am using the same stem with the agile and it seems that the expander plug bolt is not long enough to go through the stem cap and into the expander.
@klein-concept
@klein-concept Ай бұрын
Thanks a lot. Yes its the plug and bolt that came with the frame as far as i remember. Its odd if the bolt is too short as normally there is only a couple mm between the cap and the expander.

Thanks for the response! Interesting yours was what came with the bike. From the video it looks silver on the outside, mine is black. Maybe winspace changed the expander that comes with the frame. The bolt on mine will not go through the fsa wedge cap and be long enough to go through the cone in the expander into the base plate with the threaded hole. I guess I need to find a longer bolt or an expander compatible with the FSA acr stem.

Hehe. The bearings should be fine but the problem will be the headset cover that blends in well with the front part of the frame. The pins that it has there for the spacer are compatible with the fsa standard and i dont think you can fit a deda stem on there as they have other pin spacings. The frame rides amazing. All I learned was disc brakes were invented to give job security for something that was once simple and effective. Now it requires stupid tools for an overly complicated thing to do something simple. Great progress, the glorious simple machine that is a bike made stupid.
@klein-concept
@klein-concept 4 ай бұрын
I wish we could bring back rim brakes big time. And who knows. I agree the setup and maintenance of disc is a pain. While on the other hand i also appreciate the braking power in the wet and also that braking doesnt eat away my rim but only a replaceable disc. But not saying that market change was worth it 🫣
@blaw7717
@blaw7717 4 ай бұрын
Nah, disc brakes gave us integrated cockpits / aero cabling, and also ability to run much wider tire widths. Not to mention no longer have to worry about using a carbon rim as as a braking surface. All in all, these are great advancements, IMO. But I haven't gone full hydraulic yet. Still running the hybrid Juin-Tech R1 type brakes. :D
@klein-concept
@klein-concept 4 ай бұрын
The wear or a carbon rim was always my main concern. Like getting a stone or something stuck in the brake pads and just smashing a very expensive wheelsets. But your other improvements are also valid. I personally like an integrated cockpit but setting up a classic rim brake bike is just a breeze hehe.

I have not weighed the R12 when building it up but i think it might only be around 200g heavier. With the right wheels and groupset you can also make R12 a lightweight racer. But being a bit of a weight weenie sometimes. I know what you mean 🫣

@@klein-concept on a 54cm I am currently at 7.5kg. berk saddle, red and force axs groupset, hope brakes, galfer rotors. Pretty lightweight setup although Shimano would allow for more ww options. Will knock 100g off when I can finally order an EXS Aerover.

Carbon and carbon bikes don't flip any positive switches for me anymore. Unless you need the lightness and stiffness for racing and the budget to replace it there is no reason to have this material. I've spent a fortune in my lifetime of cycling and have come full circle back to steel and titanium and aluminum and I wish I had all that money back that I just threw away on junk. In my very early days of riding a bike I had a steel road bike that lasted me 22 years before I started my craze of weight wennie tripping.

I fully get what you mean. After building up my first steel bike, then second steel, then third steel i though i would never want a carbon bike again. Ok maybe except a Canyon Aeroad. Thats always been the one i would really love to try. And when this bike showed up i ve just seen it as just another review. But throughout the process i have to say i somehow fell a bit in love with it. Would i swap it for my steel bikes. Maybe not but have not been so excited to spend some proper rides on a piece of carbon for a while now. Lets see how long it will last 🫣

I am not impressed with carbon frames and the need to hide everything. I am just too old school and like to have the ease of cable maintenance. I really enjoy your channel, just not a fan of carbon bikes.

I can fully understand you. I guess from my other videos you know how much i love my steel bikes and especially the retro Daccordi rim brake one. Every time i build up a bike with internal routing, i m questioning my life choices 😂😂 but once its done i really love the look somehow 🫣

Old school here, also... don't have an integrated cockpit-style frame (yet). But really, once the bike is built up, how often to you need to re-route the cables or swap out bars? Almost never, right? Personally I think the integrated/hidden style look great. Very 'clean'. Although, there is a joy to running colored (white, red, green, celeste, etc.) cable housing on exterior cabled bikes, to compliment the paint job. :D

@@blaw7717 yes that is true. Normally you would not really touch these. Even re greasing the bearings would work without disassembling everything.

Sorry but this build was a hash up, no grease, no assembly paste, no anti seize the touque wrench only made 1 appearance and then it was used wrongly. People do not reference this build for you're own build.

No need to be sorry 🫶. I m living on the edge here. So just follow this if you do as well 😂😂 To correct you, the torque wrench has been used for the cranksarm, stem mount and handlebar to stem clamps. But please let me know how it was used wrongly in these places so i can keep an eye on it in the future. Regarding the grease. Most bolts already came pregreased and remaining parts still have been greased because they partially came fresh from another bike. But still definitely got me there. I completely forgot to grease up the headset. Will do that before the ride out so thanks for pointing that out.
