I am building this diaphragm for my newest stirling engine. I am pretty sure that it is going to put out more than a watt. I will update this when I finish building it and get some results. Thank you for watching!

Im stealin your idea. Pistons are a real problem with Stirlings which is why i gave up making them. This inspires me to try again. Thanks a bunch!

Very nice. I like that you're avoiding adhesives: it just makes changing things a drag.

Nice job! It's good seeing your process. Attaching shafts to shafts is always a trick.

Thank you! I powered it up and it works very well! A video of it running will be uploaded really soon!

I have a nice horde of cans too! I had them all over the work shop floor when I was deciding what size to use for water jackets etc. and my mom came in and she was like wow where did all those come from! They really take up a lot of space when you spread them all out on the floor, but when you stake them all inside of each other they fit in a medium sized box.

I do need to make one, had a stack of cans in the shed for ages!

I finished it and had it running for 2 hours last night! I broke the 1 watt barrier at 1.2 watts!!! It's still quite disappointing though... (I was really hopping for more like 10W) You really need to try your hand at making one! Yup! Thank you!

Thank you! Yeah I think it does wast a little power from flapping. I will probably form a new piece of rubber for it to get rid of that.

This is turning into a great build. With a great series of videos of every step too. Keep em coming. Perhaps you could seal the diaphragm better with a little silicon or PVA wood glue? My Firsts Stirling is going to be heaps better after watching all these. Nice work on the hand machining too. My cordless lathe would have been really good there :p

There is a tendency to make rubber diaphragm instead of piston with oring. I did not think it would work that way in wood. I'm building my new larger Stirling engine and I plan on using it that way. Congrats, your videos are great.I'm from Brazil and here we really like the Stirling engine.

+Paulo Gilberto they work pretty good! And are simple to build so pretty nice. You should post sine videos on you're build! I'd love to see your engine. Thanks!

@@makerj101 ⚠️ God has said in the Quran: 🔵 { O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous - ( 2:21 ) 🔴 [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. ( 2:22 ) 🔵 And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. ( 2:23 ) 🔴 But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.( 2:24 ) 🔵 And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 ) ⚠️ Quran

A vacuum on one side would create form. Heat from the other side may work as well.

I saw a guy mentioned he uses shower caps for this part that is made from high temperature silicone. Since it is already dome shaped it may be a better solution.

A lamp rod is hollow and lighter than the bolt. Just plug the end with high temp JB weld or gasket sealer.

where is the part where you put it in your stirling engine?
@keithreynolds774010 жыл бұрын
Accelerating and decelerating mass robs your engine of usable power. You can increase the usable power by reducing the mass in your displacer. Use the smallest aluminum bolt and nut possible. Maybe instead of a nut you just use exoxy. I'm not sure if you should use two Aluminum washers or just one and some adhesive.
