This was my biggest inspiration to build my bird cage. After looking at many KZfaq videos on how to build a cage. This is hands down the best one.

Nicely made avairy. I've got one in my home too. I'm always concerned about developing bird fanciers lung problems. I've had mine since 2015 but increased my birds over three years from 2017.

I think that good ventilation is very important when keeping pet birds in a home.

@@studnickaaquatics80 I've got a Homedics HEPA Filter. I clean them out three times a week too. But it's always in back of my mind although many say it's rare. I've around 14 now or 7 couples of zebra finch

Love the build, dimensions look really great lots of space. I would suggest new birds in quarantine before adding them to your birds. Just a few weeks to make sure they don’t have any underlining disease that could kill of your existing birds. Love the video!

There are several factors in creating an amazing design. One place I found that succeeds in merging these is the Aviary magic method (google it if you're interested) definately the most incredible info i've heard of. Check out this great resource.

Remember stainless steel only !! Beautiful cage would love to see one be build !!
@studnickaaquatics805 жыл бұрын
This cage houses finches which do not chew on the wood. Even if they did the wood and the stain are both non toxic to birds. You do not want to use any metal that will rust and definitely not galvanized metal. Wood is fine if it is done properly.
@neonlights39775 жыл бұрын

Where do you live? I live in Florida and I am looking for Lady Goulding finches. You did a good job on the Avery. I think I would have made it taller but it's really nice. Thanks
@studnickaaquatics805 жыл бұрын
I live in the middle of nowhere. i did not make it any taller because I want to be able to stand in my kitchen and see over the flight cage into my livingroom, cigar lounge, and my back yard.
@skevospaps11933 жыл бұрын
Great job. Did you use stainless steel mesh or a galvanized one? Sorry if you have already mentioned it in the video. I know nothing about birds but I plan to build a wooden cage for my canary and read everywhere that galvanized mesh is a huge no!
@studnickaaquatics803 жыл бұрын
I used Non Galvanized Hardware Cloth that I order through my local True Value Hardware Store.
@skevospaps11933 жыл бұрын
@@studnickaaquatics80 thank you for your response. Unfortunately every hardware store in my town has only galvanized mesh. Do you recommend removing some of the zinc with vinegar and sandpaper?
@studnickaaquatics803 жыл бұрын
@@skevospaps1193 I would not recommend it. You may have to go stainless steel which cost a lot more. I would check online first.

What is the size? Look very interesting. Small and cute cage. Can i know what species of bird can keep in this cage?
@studnickaaquatics804 жыл бұрын
The overall size is 5 feet (wide) x 21 inches (front to back) x 5 feet (tall). The cage portion is 5 feet (wide) x 21 inches (front to back) x 3 feet 4 inches (tall). I believe that it would work for finches, budgies, or cockatiels.

This is a really nice cage! I have birds myself and I want to build something like this. Do the birds make a lot of mess in there? If so, you might want to cover the back part that is overlapping the wall with poster paper. That way, their droppings won’t get on the wall. Also, you might want to put one more door in the middle to reach everything easier. The birds will really appreciate if you put other perches, like rope perches in there, and at different heights and angles. Anyway, I really like your idea and I might copy it!
@studnickaaquatics805 жыл бұрын
It is fairly easy to keep clean with the pull out doors. So far they have not made any mess on the back wall. If they do I will cover it with something, probably removable Plexiglas. I really do not want to obstruct the front viewing panel with another door. I have long arms and can reach it fine. The finches seam to have plenty of perches and are constantly moving. If things change I may add more of them. Thanks for the comment.
