How to build a First Tunnels Mini-Polytunnel

Күн бұрынThe mini polytunnel from first Tunnels is 4ft wide and 10ft long. The kit comes with everything except a drill bit to drill the wood & some hinges. You'll also need a spanner or socket wrench. Apart from that it's a full kit. My kit came with the polytunnel plastic and a netting. But I chose to make a polytunnel. It takes about 4 hours to build. You will need atleast 2 people to build it, especially when tightening the plastic. Highly advised to do this on a warm day so the plastic warms up.

I was asked to review it & I can 100% tell you I highly recommend this mini-polytunnel. It was so easy to build. But takes some patience & time. Enjoy!

That was a good spot with the lock before we had any windy weather Danny. Nice build and I am not looking forward to erecting my plastic inside my tunnel now.....lol. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

Cracking job Danny, very nice of first tunnels to send you that mate 👍 I would have done only 1 thing differently, and that would have been to screw the buttons on instead of nails so if the cover needed replacing it would be easier to do thanks for sharing mate, great job jobbed Alan

Hey Alan. Yeah very nice! Was sent a few months ago but I was waiting for good weather. Yeah I funnily said that to andrew. I do plan to go round and ads a few screws just in case, I'm time the nails pop out a bit. But yeah I see your logic too. We said the same thing. Cheers Alan

Aww great! It's not that heavy too. But can also be used as a coldframe in winter/early spring . Salads etc. Then in summer will be for chillies and peppers. Its a win win! So pleased with it :)

That is a good looking tunnel, Danny. Be careful lifting the top in any sort of breeze or you will be filming "Wales from the Air!"

Yeah im really pleased with it. Itll be great for peppers & chillies i think and Haha! I added tension cables today, I had left over from the grapevines. So it doesn't slam shut on me when planting or flips over haha.

Nice video Danny. I built a few similar to this a few years ago and there were really useful so I’m sure others will find this helpful. As I built a rather large polyhouse last year I have less of a need for these types of cloches, but the same principle will work if you want a netted cloch instead of polythene. We are poorly adapted as Humans to fit ridge bars like this, we always need 3 or 4 hands! Shame on First Tunnels for not providing those extra hands...😁😁😁. Luckily you had an extra set with you! Good job well done...Steve...😃

@@TheGrowUpChannel Yes but when First Tunnels send you another one (and I think they should!), it will be so much easier and take less time to complete. I just looked at their page from the link you provided Danny and I think they should be making hoops with longer legs. I've been a sub here for quite some time, but first comment on your channel...Steve...😃

I spoke to Matthew about this actually. I agree. I have been using poles I already have lying about hammered into the beds then placing them over. So I don't lose that height by directly pushing them in. And thank you again for commenting. Made my day :)

Haha cheers Ian! Well my greenhouse is usually half tomatoes & half chillies & peppers. This tunnel gives me the option now to put all tomatoes in the greenhouse & put my chillies and peppers in the tunnel. It's doubled my growing space now. So pleased with it!

Thank you :) the plan is to use it as a coldframe and for salads in the spring. chillies, peppers & Bush tomatoes In summer. It gives me double the amount of space in the greenhouse now for more vine tomatoes :)

Hello. I have both. The hoops and the mini polytunnel. I'd say.. this is very much static when built. It's a sturdy piece of kit that will withstand storms. Mines hinged and has a lock on the end to stop it blowing open. But in terms of changing your beds around.. with this you're limited. With the hoops yoi can put whatever you want over the top. However I know this also comes with a net that you can use it as a brassica cage. I've been tempted to change it haha
