This weekend we built a floating dock! our 12ft Floating dock uses 6 55 gallon barrels to keep us afloat. This project has been something we wanted to accomplish since our renovation last summer! So happy to finally have a dock in the water! It is a terrible time to do anything with lumber because the prices are so high but this project has already proved itself worth it. Can't wait for all the memories made!

#GoingOffGrid is hard work, but it is so worth it! We could not do this without the help of our family and friends! Since May we have been renovating this abandoned cabin and turning it into our full-time home! We are moving into our #oneroomcabin ! We still have a lot of renovations to do but it is almost complete! #cabinrenovation #movingoffgrid #offgridhomes #livingoffgrid #cabintour #cabinhomes #offgridsolar #goingoffgrid #cabinmakeover #offgrid

Growing up together as high school sweethearts, we got married at 19 in August of 2016. We have always dreamed of a life of adventure! We started traveling the US any free weekend we had, finding free campgrounds wherever we could, and even converting our truckbed into a home for three weeks to make the trip across the country. After 4 years of college and 2 corporate jobs, we decided this typical lifestyle is not for us. Because of RONA, our jobs let us work remotely full time and so we decided to take the leap. We started this #goingoffgridvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but hope to share helpful tips along the way! We have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to be able to jump into this lifestyle. :)

Yes girl yesss!! Just got to get you a stackable washer and dryer. Don’t forget to get a gas one that you pay the 10 dollar kit to convert to propane. That’s what I did! 5 years and 3 kids later and that bad boy is still running strong!

To make it less heavy, put the frame in the water over the barrels then deck it while it's floating.

You got her done, good for you. Next time only put deck on where the barrels are, flip it laced the barrels in, flip it on to the water and finish the decking. I've built a few in my past. Now go enjoy the summer.

Great video! I'm a city girl who moved to the woods in a bus completely off-grid. I thank the Lord for this body with the strength it takes to pull off projects like this one! "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." -1 Corinthians 6:19-20

It’s easier to build the floats into the frame first, then put the deck on once it’s in the water.

Great pier! It can be used as a raft for a mini dredger to clean the lake from mud. To do this, you need a motor pump for dirty water and a suction nozzle Bagermaster

Now that is a handsome deck! Awesome job! Still trying to catch my breath at the price of lumber... I want to put up some shelves in my living room and prefer to make them, but at this point buying a store bought shelf would be cheaper 😬

I'm thinking house/barge... With a boat loading side, a ladder for jumping off the roof, Maybe solar panel and marine battery for lights/music... all 12v for safety...

Could these still float if incased in concrete/cement instead of wood?

OK it’s sitting a bit high out of the water maybe take out the two middle barrels to take away some of the buoyancy and it’ll settle down into the water and be a little more user-friendly.

or just unscrew each barrel and let 20% water in then screw it closed. or add a bench and cup holder end tables and the weight will lower it.

Nice work. Why didn't you put the barrels under the frame before decking?

You wouldn't need that last piece of decking if you planned properly.
