This project is super simple--utilizing plywood and some basic 2x2s in a unique design with simple joinery methods. Since this is just a dog bed, there's no need to overcomplicate the build :)

I love your “exclusive” use of those extremely technical terms, such as “sturdy up”! See, I’m not an Engeneer, so I wouldn’t have known how to have described exactly what happened when the glue dried!

Luuuuuccccyyyyyyy! Such a sweet dog. She looks like she has a little border collie in her make up based on the mottled fur on her chest. Am I remotely close? Love how the bed turned out. Very modern - love the look.

Thanks so much! She is super sweet. We think she’s got some pointer but she’s definitely not full blooded. Whatever she is, I wish I had ten just like her. Best dog we’ve ever had 🙌

I recently made a dog bed in between more “serious” builds, and it was so fun to not worry about perfection. My pup loves it and it came out really nice in a relaxed build. Love your Lu-Bed.

same here..a bed on stilts basically. its as high as my bed. below i made a bed for the short legged dog. so bunk beds. i painted it to make it pretty but it was not a pretty build..but very functional. it would hold my weight.

Thanks so much! I agree…it’s been a challenging two years in a lot of ways and and after moving and doing some really big projects the last couple months, I’m fighting burnout and thought I’d break things up with a fun, non technical project to remember why I love building 😊 these small projects never perform well (sadly), but are necessary here and there to keep things going. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I enjoyed making it and sharing 💕

I love this project! I avoid even using dog beds throughout the house because they don't look like nice furniture pieces and my dog would rather be on the couch than on the floor. But you can really match decor and I think my dog might actually appreciate an elevated bed. Thanks for this project!

I've re-watched your coffee table build so many times because it's so beautiful! So excited about this pet bed version. I may have to give this lower-stake project a try to get some practice before making the matching coffee table set. I'm obsessed!

I built a dog bed on legs so the smaller dog could sleep below..like bunk beds. It was same height as my bed. i also built stairs to get up to it. It wasn't pretty but it sure worked. I added some heavy duty foam crate cushion and covered with a blanket. added a pillow and blanket. She was happy. I really need to learn the settings on a pocket jig.

Built something very similar for my sisters cats. Two tier bed platform. Leg design was nearly identical for the bottom bed. Nice job

It’s crazy how pets can become so spoiled. My Mom makes homemade dog treats for all of her kids dogs and my Dad will just come over and take our dog while we are at work to spend time with her.

Happy New Year Shara!! And what a great way to start off the new year by spoiling the ones we love. It came out great! I also made my old boy a new bed over my xmas break however I went the opposite way and made a bed low to the ground as his hips aren't what they use to be. And he loves it.

Shara, Happy New Year! I'm working on a toy box for my Grandson and needed some inspiration to keep me going. A simple project with Lucy as the Star sure fit the ticket. The successful creative people I have known schedule some "timeouts" to "rejuvenate and recover" those creative juices. I hope you've figured out what works best for you. I e never seen someone just put pocket hole screws in like nothing. I swear my bit heads are bigger than the screw tops. Always slipping out. I also have to screw or clamp everything to keep it from moving. You’re like some sort of Ninja

Needed a break, what are you talking about????????? Its not like you moved into a new house, built out your master closet, remodeled your kitchen island, AND built out your work shop. LOL. I like the dog bed design, may build that for my dog, she is 11, and it will help her step out of her bed onto the floor where she won’t have to pull herself up as much. Good video. Enjoyed it.

Haha I’m starting to feel the burnout the last couple months. My smaller projects never perform well, but sometimes they’re necessary to just keep things going 😅 it’s been quite chaotic the last few months. Anyway, I hope this can help your dog! It’s tough watching them start to age 😢 but maybe you’re right…this may help her ease out of her bed rather than pulling herself up. Thanks so much for watching and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video!
