The description of modular in the beginning is like not even close to what modular really is about. IT IS NOT complex and hard to learn AT ALL. There are just three things to know and you can start jamming right away. Number one, Control Voltage (CV) - Imagine it like this, you have a knob, you can turn the knob OR you can use voltage to move the knob (Higher voltage means more turned to the right). Number two, Trigger/Gate - triggers and gates have set voltage and if the voltage changes but is still over a curtain threshold, nothing will happen. Trigger acts as an impulse that activates something for a time that is set somewhere else. Gate has different length and controls when will something be activated and for how long (depending on the time that gate has high voltage). Number three, each module is same and different - to get started with a module, look up how it works. That's all there is to modular. Hope this helped.
