I transport my 2003 Gsxr 1000 which weighs 400 lbs and I have had a Hayabusa on it that weighs alot more. I think its all about your tow hitch. I have a class IV tow hitch so it can support the down weigh of the bike hanging on there. So make sure your hitch can handle it.
Here is my parts list, this can vary from your bike type and size.
1- Angle Iron
2- 1" sq tubing
3- sq tubing for the receiver hitch(size depends on inside diameter of you hitch receiver)
4- bike platform 86" long and 9" wide(depends on tire size)
5- If you need the detailed plans I used let me know. (Some folks may not be able to figure it out from a picture)
