I've been trying to build a quotebook in Obsidian for years, and I finally figured out how to do it using 1) the Search Core Plugin, 2) a custom CSS snippet (available in my free Starter Vault), and 3) a beta community plugin.
The end result is:
1. A master quotebook with an embedded query that allows me to quickly find a quote when I need it
2. A capture method using QuickAdd that allows me to easily capture new quotes without a source
3. A query that pulls all quotes from an author into a single list of results regardless of the source
In this video, I walk through the exact setup I used to FINALLY create a useful quotebook in Obsidian - and it doesn't even require Dataview.
