Wow, great job. I've got all the supplies but I've never attempted to construct one. Now you've inspired me to have a go at it. It looks quite simple to do and the results are fantastic. Thanks for posting, mate.

Hi Tony, thank you for the support. I get them from the pound shop..also the bbq skewers and matchsticks too It's a good idea to get a bag of each, the matchsticks will come in handy for your yard. Thanks again and all the best :)

Hi Michael, thanks very much. This is a simple and fun build. The video didn't get much interest in the first few weeks so I never bothered to make part 2. The cabin is finished with weathering, glazing and a door. I plan to install a working chimney, too. I'll be making part 2 to cover all of that very soon. Thank you for the encouragement...All the best...Tom

Nice looking cabin. Well explained. I’m working in 1:64 scale. It’s great to see how others make their cabins. I made a rock chimney for mine. Hopefully I’ complete it soon.

You did a great job. But when I built my model in O scale I varnished all my skewers first with clear Matt finish. So the oil from Ur fingers will building won't leave prints. Also I cut craft sticks as u did. I put shingles on top of roof. I used Brown paper bags cut to scale width and length.I doubled each row. And made a few misaligned around the stove pipe. The door was made of triple layer Card covered with distressed bass wood strips. The windows 3 total were made of scrap wood and double thickness scotch tape. No base as I buried the first log into the ground made of sculpey and glue. I cut out a fur piece in shape of bear and put on front wall w I think snow shoes and skis. I made an axe sawbuck and logs out front. With piles of be lumber and logs that were strewn around. I make an Elks antler of wire and scupey paintd brown and light over the door.

Great ideas and thanks for the comment. Your O scale cabin sounds very good indeed...Nice work. I never made a video about the next phases but the thumbnail for this video shows the finished piece. It has a door and full glazing...it's weathered with washes and has moss in the joints. It also has a flickering light inside. I plan to add a working chimney so maybe I'll do a part 2 to show how it all looks now. Thanks again and all the best....Tom

Already looks good. Is there any reason you added the lollipop sticks around the foundation after doing the walls rather than before? I'd have thought they'd make a good reference to work from.

Thanks Edward. Yes, they can be added at the start if the foundations are going to be used. All the best...Tom

I found a few different size skewers on Amazon so I was wondering what size are best for HO scale. Same for the popsicle sticks. Thanks for the great video, Pete

Hi Pete, I'm not sure about the sizes. I think they're the BBQ ones, quite thick. Thanks for watching, all the best....Tom

@@tomjenssen7486 thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to go with 4mm size skewers and regular pop sticks, not jumbo. I'll let you know how it turns out.
