it is useful! thanks! could you make a video with this case? To learn: email alert and create records in Flows Case: A company B2C wants to reward customers every 3 purchases. So the goal using Flows would be to send email alert with coupon and create a voucher (object) for that person account with the coupon for those who have 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, etc. opportunities.

@@AdamFoyston thank you so much Adam! I'd never thought of the logic you used :) so clever !! Hi AS, thanks for the comments. Sorry to hear it's not running as expected in your org. A few things to look out for/check (if you haven't already) or try next, would be: - Check if there are any flows, processes or workflows, running on the Account at the moment that might be interrupting things? - Post what the error is you read/see here so I can have a think. It might be a mathematical error if your variable isn't set up correctly - i.e. it might be trying to divide by null causing a logic error? - Try creating an 'Update Record' action to populate a description field on the account or Opportunity with the value of the variables at various stages, so you can see what being produced and used. Although Flow has a 'runtime debug' feature, it annoyingly doesn't work on Record-Triggered Flows. So you have to do 'think outside the box' with the investigation to debug yourself. Let me know if you're still struggling and we can see how I might be able to help further. Cheers again. Adam

Hey Adam! Love your videos - your energy and your explanations are great. I'm wondering if you could do a video on how you plan out flows on paper before you start building. Very helpful. After following along with trailhead, I passed the unit but ran into an error trying to debug the code. While not needed to pass the unit, I wanted to understand why the error was popping in debug. The key was to "Manually assign variables" under the new contact screen. Trailhead advised to leave this unchecked. But checking the box, and storing the first and last name variables to the record variable as advised by your video fixed the debug error.

Hey thanks for the wonderful explanation. Could you please help me out with an issue I am having? I am having two choice groups named hotel_List and room_List. Now based on the selection on the hotel_List the room_List should display records as per the hotel_List. For example if user selects Midtown burn and Marriott as the hotels, only rooms associated with these hotels need to be displayed. I would also like to add that these choice groups are of type choice sets and not record choice sets.
@AdamFoyston
@AdamFoyston Жыл бұрын
Hi there, good use case. So my first thought (from memory) would be to do 2 stages in the screenflow (2x screens) - first one the user selects the values (Midtown and Marriott) and then the second screen displays the values (after running a get element in the background). In addition, you can display the results in a data table which is now native in SF from WInter 23. Check out my video called Screen Flow Tables BUT first check out the new Winter 23 video to see the native data table bit (so you don't have to install the 3rd party data table tool). Hope that helps.

Hi Adam. Love your channel, I find it really helpful. I was wondering if you were able to have a video about how to create a flow similar to the "Convert" button in the Leads Object. I'm trying to create something a bit more complicated for my organization but I'm a bit stumped on how to.
@AdamFoyston
@AdamFoyston 9 ай бұрын
Hi there, so converting a Lead to an Account can be a tricky one to replicate/replace, because there are a lot of Salesforce things that go on in the background that will be very difficult to replicate, such as rebuilding a screen that shows the user if there are any duplicates, to auto-archive the Lead on conversion, to provide the option of an Opportunity to be create, and not least, the merge and mapping of fields, files and activities from the Lead to the Account (and it get's more complex if you have Person Accounts). My advice would be to use as much of the 'out the box' Salesforce as possible and thing about how you could build a flow after the conversion to do what you want (or before). Start by outlining the functional requirement and then work form there. For example, if the requirement is, I want to have the user enter some information before a conversion (or after) then maybe ask for that info in the LEad before a conversion or on conversion, trigger a screenflow to ask that information? The former will be easier I would think as you could do that before conversion and then map the fields to the Account/Opp, etc. Let me know what you're trying to do and I'll see if I can offer anything more. :)

Hi, I'm looking to create a flow to auto populate contact details (from the account) when the company name is inputted in opportunities. I'm struggling with it. Have you got a video on this at all?
@AdamFoyston
@AdamFoyston 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Emily, thanks for the comment and question. To me the user journey or process flow from the reading of your comment is that a user would: 1. Create an Opportunity from scratch (not from an Account) 2. In the required field 'Account' on the Opportunity record the user searches for the Account to connect the record with. 3. On save of the Opportunity you want a new Contact Record to be created and related to the Account in the Opportunity lookup entered in 2. If that is the requirement, I would first challenge why users are creating Opps from scratch. Usually, I recommend Opporunities to be created from an Account, or better still, a Contact record. That way, the Opportunity is automatically related to the Account and contact. The other reason I would recommend this (rather than a flow to do the above) is because logically, the sales user journey (for most businesses) is the following: 1. Lead is identified and qualified 2. Lead is converted into an Account, Contact and Opportunity 3. If a salesperson identifies an chance to sell new business to a customer, then they first need to create an Account and then will likely call/email/visit the customer by name and therefore create a contact to record that interaction 4. Only then would the salesperson have an Opportunity identified and therefore created to start progressing to Closed Won There is a small use case that the salesperson creates an Opportunity before speaking to a contact, but I would recommend NOT to create a new contact every time because it's highly likely over time, that the contact already exists. Therefore, you'll end up with lots and lots of duplicated contacts. Let me know if this makes sense/helps. My approach is ALWAYS to challenge the business requirement and see what the logical (and simplified) process could be first,...and then use OOTB (out of the box) Salesforce as much as possible (the way it was meant to be used). Hope that helps - let me know if anything else. Adam :)

Hi Carlos, thanks for the comments! Regarding your use case, can you give me a bit more information of what you're trying to do and I can have a look for a featured video? I'm assuming you are trying to add Opportunity Products to the Salesforce Orders object? Are you using Quotes object at all? Cheers! Adam
@kiesperto
@kiesperto 3 жыл бұрын
@@AdamFoyston oh Adam, you’re a superstar! Yes we are using Quotes Object. My use case is: we are trying to have a flow that we will use in Communities and use the Flow component to call it from there, this flow is to create a new order by the partner and add products to the order. I tried an screen flow to create the new order then use the newly created order ID to filter the products using picklist then choose one to add to this Order. I am stuck from the Products filter point onwards 😫. Can you guide me please? 🙏 . Thank you so much!
@AdamFoyston
@AdamFoyston 3 жыл бұрын
So to be clear, the user flow is: 1. Partner (on communities) creates an Opportunity and then clicks a button to 'Create New Quote' 2. The Flow will then auto-add products to the Order? Is there not a possibility to: 1. Expose the Opportunity and Quote Objects to the Partner 2. Partner creates new Opportunity and new Quote using the standard buttons 3. A specific price-book of products and pricing can be assigned to the Partner so when they've created the Quote, they are able to Add Products from that list 4. Once they've added the products to the quote, they can send it for approval (basically send it to an internal team to review and approve discounts, or negotiate and add more discount with them) 5. Able to convert to an Order on Close Won of the Opportunity If the use case is, allow partners to create their own quotes and convert to an order, you could get quite far just exposing the standard objects and functionality. However, if your use case is more specific or different to the above, let me know. It's good to know what the functional requirements are first before deciding how to develop it (i.e. As a Sales User, I want to be able to...So that.... - like user stories)
@kiesperto
@kiesperto 3 жыл бұрын
@@AdamFoyston You're great, thank you for your reply. The aim of my use case it to minimize the clicks when placing an order through the Partner community. The use case is just to place an Order with the product, just like "Here's my order to be processed" kind of thing. It's quite simple for us but a bit scary for the inexperienced users. That's why we thought of using guided screen flow to minimize clicks and make it faster. We're not using the Opportunity Object. We're looking to create the order directly. There's only the Standard Pricebook active. My screen flow got jammed when it comes to the part of filtering the products down so they can pick the one they want to be added to the order, this is where I get stuck on. I must be doing something wrong; I know I don't have a good knowledge with Flow as well. Thanks, Adam.
@AdamFoyston
@AdamFoyston 2 жыл бұрын
What is that Product List doing then? Are you calling the Price Book list of Products and displaying it in a picklist? What filter are you using on it? If you're creating a new order, then retrieving that new Order record ID, then passing it to the Price Book, I doubt that would work as I doubt that are any products in the ORder unless you manually add them first. It might be better to query the Price Book object to display all the product, then on selection, take that Product ID/s and create new Order Products on the Order record created earlier? I may need to revisit Orders too to see if there is any dependency on Opporutniy when using Price Books. Good luck.

Hi there, do you have any more details on how you've created the Flow? Are you following the flow build in this video? If so, things that might cause an error could be: - Sharing Rights (user profile doesn't have read/write access or your Org Wide Default is set to not allow it), Variable not set for required fields (for example, the Contact needs an Account ID set for it, otherwise you can't create it), etc... Let me know if I can help more. Cheers, Adam

Your other videos, not so much. Maybe I’m just tired. Why does Salesforce have to confuse us all with Flow, workflow, Flow Builder, Process Builder……ugh!!!🤪
