In this week's video, we cover how to build a skoolie in our particular situation...being in a storage facility's parking lot. A unique skoolie build to be sure, we didn't really know how to build a skoolie without a garage. Our only family property is in New York, and we live in an apartment in Texas. What kind of storage place lets you run power tools in the parking lot?! That's nice! Most places I've looked at won't even let you park something there that doesn't have a title, much less do any repair work...

Yeah, we lucked out finding this place. We did have a title, registration, and insurance, but they’ve been gracious with our build!

I'm wondering if I could park a full size bus in a out of the way corner of a Lowes to work on conversion daily. Would that be loitering? Technically if I go in and buy something each day I'm a customer. I think as long as I let them know I'm putting something together to save trips they may allow it. Thinking electrical and plumbing due to all the pieces.

In general, I think that a lot of people do projects in the parking lot of Lowe’s. With anything, I’m sure if it was abused they’d be stricter, but you’re right: you’re a customer and you’re putting a project together 🤷🏼‍♂️

It has varied wildly. We got a spot at $150/mo, but have seen numbers up to $500/mo. Also, many places said no to us working on it in the spot. This place allowed us and it was all just thanks to the location manager.
