First of all, thank you for posting this vid. This is making my dream/idea become a reality. Question on the metal roof: Do you have any issue with condensation forming on the underside? Is there’s any benefit to using corrugated plastic roofing vs metal?
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells 2 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. For the first question, no i do not have a issue with condensation. And even if it dose forum the angle of the slant makes it run back and down. But that would be on extremely humid mornings like 90% humidity and up. For the second question, no there is no differences in the 2 when it comes to capability. The only major thing i would think would be if you put a screw in the wrong place with the metal it will bend not break. The other thing would be the plastic would get brittle over time and be easy to snap in a wind storm. But not for many many many years.

@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells 4 жыл бұрын
No i just dug out the ground to level the 2x6 that makes the deck so very little ground prep just were the boards ran, then the 4x4s are screwed in from the outside of the deck and just resting flush. As far as the grass goes just spray a grass and week killer before putting your deck boards and that takes care of the weeds and grass from grown up under it.

Hello I don't know if you will read this or not. But it looks great,I really need to build something for mu grill as well,and our 3 seat swing but it needs to be,I'm guessing at around a 12x12 or 10x12. And every thing really cost so much in 2023. Plus I'm on disability. And don't have enough to hire the job out. Over never been good at building a roof.

how well does this set up work keeping underneath dry? Looks nice enjoyed the vid!!
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Жыл бұрын
Thank you, and im glad you enjoyed it. As far as it goes for the pit, it stays dry with a downward rain. But with a side ways wind blowing it will get the bottom a little bit but not much. How to fix that is by adding over hang, you will want about 6" to 8" on the front and back and about 2 on the side and it will keep the deck and pit dry.

Thank you and you are welcome. I used 3" deck screws, i put 6 on each side. I cut the deck boards around the post so i didn't need to use any lag bolts or corner brackets. Because the deck boards hold the 4x4 in place really tight. But thats not to say you cant use corner brackets or even lags bolts, thats just the way i did it. @@JeepTrailsandBarbells if you don't mind me asking, how did you do that? (notch out the deck boards) Great build btw exactly what I was looking for. Thanks man
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Жыл бұрын
@Demond i dont mind at all. You will simply measure out where the posts are at, then mark out the location on the deck board that needs to be cut out. Or you can just put the deck board right up against the post and make the marks instead (much faster). In order to make the notch, you can use a saw to make the 2 cuts into the board, then get a chisel or flat head screw driver on the back line, then use a hammer to knock the peace out with the chisel/screwdriver by hammering the chisel down onto the line. If you are running the with the grain, the peace will brake off almost clean. You can make the 2 cuts into the deck board and use a jig saw to make a rounded cut from your first 2 lines to cut out the back line. Come from one side, then the other to get the cut. Another option is to take a 1/2" drill bit, and on the inside of the lines, drill out the corners, then use a jig saw to drop into the hole and cut the back like. Then, cut out the 2 side lines. There are many ways to cut it. Just use what you have, and im sure you will do just fine. I hope this helps. If not, please ask again, and I'll try to explain it better or make a video possibly to help you out.

If its blowing that hard then i wouldnt be out there cooking 😌. This was mainly to keep rain off the fire box and main cook chamber, if its a light rain all is good. I had another pit just like this that i would keep covered with a tarp but it trapped moisture and rusted it out over a 5 year period. So the point of this cover is to keep heavy rain from coming straight down and getting inside the fire box and sitting inside and allowing rust to start. And because it isnt covered any moisture that dose get in it drys fast from being out of a tarp covering. Thank you for watching though and your impute, but its been almost a year that i have had it and has worked wonderful up to this point.

Your the one looking up videos on how to do something not me. If you knew how to do it then you wouldn't need to look up stuff on "how to do" but you insult me for putting out a video helping others like yourself? If you cant figure out how to do it with me giving you all the info you need on how to build it in this video, and you NEED a step by step to show you how to do it. Well that means you cant follow instructions and its to complicated for you, so to me it seams your the stupid one and you need to keep your ignorant mouth shut kid.
