This particular project was commissioned by a client right here in sunny Arizona. I don't often get a chance to meet my clients face to face however it was really great to have the client stop by the shop and pick up the door in person.
Thank you for taking the time to watch my video.

Nice work! Hey I had to laugh when you showed your Router Table - most of us can relate. I liked the expresso look but I also liked the red mahogany. Finishes are always a flip of the coin for me. Hey congrats on getting your 1k too!

That turned out really nice Doug. That was a pretty tight joint for a hand router, nothing to be ashamed of there.

Muddy Fences thanks! Before I worked with metal, I did with wood more often and would like to get back in that area again for sure. Need to get better equipped to weld without catching the wood on fire 😄👍

Use a heavy chain with nuts bolts and big washers to beat up the boards for the ultimate distressed look, then make a comb with long drywall screws to make the worm holes, it will look 200 years old after sanding and staining.

The money shot is missing! How to attach the metal to the wood. Did you cut a groove into the wood or just lay the trip pieces on top? The door looks great with either stain. Well done, sir!
@ArtfullyRogue

I actually cut a groove in the wood for the pieces to fit in. My earlier video days😊 still figuring out how to best shoot a video

I also wanted to see the metal put into the frame, there are no videos showing this. Well I may have to make a video myself because this one just shows how to do stuff we already know how to do.
@ArtfullyRogue
@ArtfullyRogue 5 жыл бұрын
That was an oversight on my part. I assumed by showing the groove being cut in the wood that it was understood that the metal simply slid into the groove and held in place once the frame was put together. So basically it floats within the frame so the wood can move as needed.

Did you just let vinegar sit on the steel to blemish and eat through the galvanized coating?
@ArtfullyRogue
@ArtfullyRogue 2 жыл бұрын
I actually use an angle grinder with a 60-80 grit flap wheel and remove the galvanization in areas and then I add the vinegar.

That is whey I don't do orders. I make the piece, then put them up for sale...taking orders removes the joy out of it for me.

I say whatever works best for you. Personally I'm not into making something that might sit around the shop waiting to be sold. When people order, I get paid, I make it, ship it and its gone.

Actually the metal was slid into the groove in the wood. I didn't screw it in anywhere

@ArtfullyRogue

It was one of my earlier videos so I wasn't as thorough in my videos as I try to be now. I created a slot in the wood and slid it in to place

@@ArtfullyRogue thanks! Reason I was watching your video is cause I'm making a hutch out of a couple old doors that came out of an old bar! And I want to incorporate rusty roofing tin. I wasn't sure how it's done without leaving sharp edges exposed.

It was a door that was shipped so I never installed it. That was on the client. If you go back to my earlier videos I have a video that shows how I install most of my doors

Can you show how you added rust to your corrugated metal? I got muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide from Home Depot and it’s not really doing the trick for me, am I doing something wrong?!
@ArtfullyRogue
@ArtfullyRogue 3 жыл бұрын
Corrugated metal is typically galvanized which protects it from rust. So you'll need to remove the galvanized layer first. The best way is to grind it off with a course flap wheel and angle grinder. It's a bit of work but once it's removed it will rust.
