@thefaeryman The receiver did not come with a whip antenna, but it still has a long range even without one...which is great. For larger yards a whip antenna may be useful though. This receiver also does a great job of staying bound to only one transmitter and has not had any issues with interference from what I've experienced so far.

@Leney98 Well believe it or not, the Sabertooth 2X25 is considered a non-expensive motor controller because of the features included. The only other option that may be cheaper is to build a motor controller yourself. I have seen a few out there but I cannot remember the link to any.

@@GreenTechTown I am a Quadriplegic and I have wanted to build or have an RC Lawn Mower built, but I would like to do so without using a Arduino and just use the Motor Controller, RC Receiver, two 12 volt batteries which is easier to do as you've shown in your Tutorial Video's. I'm familiar with RC Control wiring, as I've had and flown several RC Airplanes over the years, controlling the joysticks with the use of my teeth/mouth, which is how I would control the RC Lawn Mower. I believe I could bypass using a Arduino, if I were to use a DC to DC Converter powered by the Motor Controller to drop the power to 5 volts for any other servos I may wish to add. Example -- Safety Shut Off switch, servo for the throttle and maybe an Actuator to raise and lower the mowing deck. I may be mistaken on some of this? As for what I would like to see, I'm not sure since there are so many topics to choose from. You have NOT bored with any of many videos I've watched and I can't imagine you disappointing me with any in the future. If/when I think of a topic I'll be sure to let you know.

Just a thought, you may wish to use ring fast-on connectors when possible in case of vibration and loosen screws. Also locating receiver as far away from all other electrical stuff will reduce interference. Is the receiver available with a whip antenna, may give more range.

Hi Robert. I love your videos and I'm still on #6 in which you explain the remote control DX5 thing. I'm not at all mechanically inclined, but I would love to have a rc lawn mower. I have a new (never been used) TroyBilt 280es. Thanks for your videos and thanks in advance for any response. good morning Mr. Robert I found his videos very interesting. I have a project in mind for a radio-controlled lawnmower but unlike the mechanics in electronics I'm in a bad way .. I need a little help with the components. is the sabertooth 2x25 board ready and just programming the swiches? does the spektrum dx5e radio control with the ar 500 receiver fit only these or also other brands? thank you in advance .. greetings

The sabertooth is ready and can be configured for different things using the dip switches. You can use it with just about any radio control. I just used it with the dx5e since that is what I already had on hand.

Great video. But it was made quite a few years ago and I am attempting to do what you have done and I am not finding the same components you are using in the video. It would seem the models you display are not available anymore. I have seen some models that may work but Im not sure and they are pricey so I want to be sure. One other thing. Are the motors in the wheelchair I have Servo or Brushless. Thanks for any help.
@GreenTechTown
@GreenTechTown 3 жыл бұрын
Yes the wheelchair motors are brushless.Also, I checked and the sabertooth motor controller is still available, but has a lead time fo 2 weeks. You basically just need a controller that can handle the max amount of amps your wheelchair motors can draw. But yes, I'm sure there are other options out there available too, so if they work for your application, go for it. Thanks for watching and good luck!
@justsosmooth2k23

Thanks so much for the reply. As per my post the controller was not what I could not find. It was actually the radio you were using in the post. I guess I wanted to be sure about using another radio and be ok that they would be compatible with the controller. I guess I wanted a suggestion as to a good radio that would match well with controller. Again thanks so much for any help.

Question: 1. what type of type of Battery Voltage was connected to the Sabertooh Dual ? 2. how much voltage was reduced by the Sabertooh going to the motors 3. What was the Amps needed for the motor
@GreenTechTown

Hey Perez, it's been a while since I worked on this project, but I believe I supplied 24V to the motor controller. I did not check the voltage reduction, and the wheel chair motors I believe were rated for 10amps but again, it has been a while, so do not quote me on that. :D
