The fact that this video has such low viewership proves to me that I have nothing to fear when giving away "Secrets" to doing barrel works. At the end of the day you have to have the time tools and skill do get these done. bravo!

Truth! Someone who wants to build something themselves isn’t going to buy from you, and someone who’s gonna buy from you isn’t going to build it themselves

I saw another chair maker dowell almost all the joints, I now know he did this to avoid splitting when screwing.

Started my first chair today! Got everything measured and cut and wire wheeled the char off my staves (bourbon barrel). Now just have to pretty everything up! I’m excited!

Done numerous projects with staves, but never a chair. Lots of great info in your video if I decide to make one. Keep it up!!

Ok so I made the chair… I had to go backwards and forwards to this video a bit - especially considering that I use metric. I also had the instructions printed. The final product looks good. Thanks from Cape Town.

Where would I find the cut list?

on your TikTok you have a rocking chair. Is the only difference that you add a rocking stave to the bottom? no other measurement changes?

So 22 total staves to build this chair?
@Oakydokes5 ай бұрын
Thanks again for your videos. I’ve just broken down two barrels. Lots of small staves, but there are some wide ones as well. Between the two barrels the widest matching pair for arms are about 3.5” wide at the widest. Is that too narrow? What do yours arms range?
@spoonsprojects66495 ай бұрын
General rule of thumb, use what you have, arms wider than front legs, which are wider than back legs. Narrow works if that’s all you have. Hope that helps 🙌

How much are your chairs?
@LPmiester Жыл бұрын
I’ve made 2 now. Great Video. The chairs sit very low, any suggestions from you or others on raising the seat?
@spoonsprojects6649 Жыл бұрын
Great question! For this chair design, I haven’t come up with a solution. They sit low, and no matter where you position the front leg, the back still goes to the ground. If I need a taller seat, I will build a bench. Ha! Hope that helps!

I got one of these chars but they broke. Need to re-inforce it to carry more weight. Do you have suggestions on how to re-inforce it to carry more weight.

I made a response video for you. I won’t lie, I don’t know how to attach it to your comment. I hope it helps!

Anyone else having problems finding the cut list he mentioned is listed in the bio? I can't find it anywhere.

Hi! Yes, there are current technical difficulties with the plans. I will try to get them back up asap.

Hi, just wondering if you are still making wine barrel projects? I am in Canberra Australia and have been doing similar builds for a while. What price do you sell your chairs for? Your videos are very helpful, thanks. Terry

I'm working with Bourbon Barrel Staves. What method would you recommend for sanding?
@spoonsprojects66492 жыл бұрын
I’ve always used an orbital or drum sander. If you need to take more off, I’ve seen people use angle grinders. Especially if you have a lot of char to remove.
@edwilliams4793Ай бұрын
Flap wheel on an angle grinder. Go easy, this setup can get ahead of you if you’re not accustomed to it…

Started cutting my first chair today from the written instructions. I just noticed your written instructions omit the back leg braces shown in the video at 1:59 under your left index finger. Are these required and forgotten or did you find them to be unnecessary?
@spoonsprojects6649 Жыл бұрын
Whoops! I’d definitely recommend the braces. I cut them 21”, and one side at a 45 degree angle
@justinbond9327 Жыл бұрын
So the back uses 1 and 5/8 screw. I'm assuming the seat does too. What do we use the 2 and 1/2 inch on?
@spoonsprojects6649 Жыл бұрын
The longer screws connect the arm to the front leg, and the front leg to the seat. 👍

How much do you charge per chair?
@spoonsprojects6649 Жыл бұрын
@@Seiko141 the furniture hovers around $10/board. For the big chair, 250, rocker 300, small chair, 150. If listed on Etsy, big chair 450, little chair 250. Hope that helps

How many coats of finish do you put on your chairs?
@johnturgesen6515Ай бұрын
Two coats at a minimum. Exterior grade, oil base, satin finish. That’s what I have landed on. Everyone ends up with their own solutions for wood outside. There is maintenance involved regardless. Hope that helps
@user-uo9bm7wq5uАй бұрын
@@johnturgesen6515 Yes, it does and thank you for replying. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep them coming. How much are you charging for a chair? Thanks again.
