Great video!!! You mentioned that the NVX amplifier is based on a Philips board. Very interesting, did not know that before watching your video.
@DIYAudioGuy
@DIYAudioGuy 4 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell it's the only amp currently available for sale that uses the Phillips board. Several brands had a full lineup that matched the specs on these NVX amps. Some brands would be a little generous with the numbers, like PPI. Polk Audio made some as well, after they discontinue the line a bunch of cheap ones showed up on eBay. If I had a time machine I would have picked up a cheap model block amp.

I recently picked up some new crimpers, a smaller one for speaker wires in a larger one that can handle up to 4 gauge power wire. They're both ratcheting crimpers, and they're both better than what I've been using. But, I still find crimping to be a royal pain in the rear and I always try to solder whenever I can. I suppose I should make a video showing off my new crimpers.
@jpowens2253
@jpowens2253 Жыл бұрын
@@DIYAudioGuy I know this is an old video and hopefully you got a better quality crimper that doesn't leak. But just to let you know, that style of hydraulic crimper is meant to sit on a stable surface (table/floor/etc) and with one hand on the pivoting handle and the other hand holding the wire, push down on the pivoting handle into the solid surface. It's a very good style, just need to know how best to hold it. I'm sure you've already figured this out by now.

Is a 5 channel amp the way to go for a simple setup or is a dedicated sub amp with a separate amp for mids/highs preferable?

@@DIYAudioGuy That's a nice looking amp, hadn't seen it before. Was thinking of the Kenwood XR901.5 or the 5 channel NVX amp. I have an Alpine MRP-F300 that I had planned to pair with a JL360/2 in the past but now wondering if simpler is better.
@DIYAudioGuy
@DIYAudioGuy 3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how much power you want to send to the subwoofer. If you only need 300 watts and the sub-stage then a 5-channel amp is the way to go.

Regarding the DSP. 03 Infi FX35 Bose . Do I "tap" into the amp before or after? im a bit confused on working with stock HU
@DIYAudioGuy
@DIYAudioGuy 3 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know. Sometimes the head unit is just sending data to the factory amp, If that's the case you'll have to tap into the factory system after the amplifier. Sometimes the head unit is sitting line level signal to the amplifier, in that case you can use line level inputs and tap into the system in front of the factory amplifier. In either case you're going to need to measure the signal with pink noise and an RTA so you can know what you're tapping into.
