Another great video. Thank You. I get scared every time I route a truss rod channel specially near the nut. Thanks for the tips.

Great work, one thing you might want to consider for your next build is the size of the logo in relation to the surface area of the headstock. Using the same font and size but adding the word Guitars or Custom right after Ewor may be better in terms of proportions. Anyhow stay safe and healthy thanks again

Really enjoying this series David. I am interested to see what you create going forward with the CNC. ☮💗

Yeah I’m pretty excited to learn the cnc too!

Hey Dave - Another great video!! Although I'm not in favour of CNCs for 'Hand Made Guitars' they are very useful for some operations and it will be a huge benefit to rout the trussrod channel, as you can program all the profiles for the adjustment nut and abuttment. I hope you dont ever get to the point where you CNC your necks like some 'hand builders' do, far better to offer your customers a truly custom neck profile which fits them perfectly. I reckon I can profile a neck quicker than a CNC with just a spokeshave and a rasp and save on the amount of wood required. I do agree with you on the inlay front as you have to charge so much if you hand cut the apertures and the inlays, although I think a bench top laser is probably the way to go as it will cut both substrates so finely that you get a perfect fit. If I hadn't retired that's the way I would have gone. I also think bodies are quicker using a bandsaw and spindle moulder than a CNC. I realise I'm old school but having managed a woodworking company using multihead CNCs I have had the opportunity to study what is efficient and what isn't. CNCs are great for mass production but not necessarily for one offs, it has just become another supposed necessity in the modern world, a bit like smart phones - another thing I don't need or want. Best wishes for the holiday season and the future. Stay safe!!

Thanks David! I totally agree about the neck shaping. All by hand it is my favorite part of building a guitar!

I know cad pretty well. Learned it so I could design instruments. Unfortunately I don’t have a cnc, so I have to use other ppls machines. Still nice to have the option! 3d modeling is a breeze once you get used to it. If you ever need some help/tips let me know! Also, you can get into 3D printing pretty cheap. Lots of possibilities with inlays there as well.
@eworcustomguitars2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Uriel! What 3D modeling software do you use? I’m thinking about Rhino 3-D
@mgcnashville66152 жыл бұрын
@@eworcustomguitars I use fusion 360, but rhino is also good! I just use f360 because I heard it was the standard. There are a couple of great KZfaq channels that teach guitar design in cad. Look up Austin shaner. He’s a genius. If you want, I can send some other links. It’ll have you doing 3d right away.

Loving this series! You do beautiful work 👍👍 Where do you source your lumber from if ya don't mind me asking?

I get most of my lumber locally at a place called: jubilee specialty hardwoods.

looking very good David. Every time I see one of my guys using CNC I ask which one they bought. Been thinking long and hard about getting a small unit for the very same thing you used yours for. Headstock and fretboard inlay.

I bought the shark HD 510 I have been really pleased with it so far. I got the 510 because it is big enough to cut out a body if I ever want to. If you watch the sales on the shark you can get the water cooled spindle for free. About $800 value.

Hey Gunnar here is the Amazon link. amzn.to/3sEmTOG I bought mine from a local art supply store. If the link doesn’t work just look for the product Pearl-ex by Jacquard. It comes in many different colors really cool stuff.
