Do you coat your forms with something to make them not stick to the concrete? An old-timer acquaintance said he always slathers on his forms a coating mix of used motor oil and diesel fuel Is that or some other coating really necessary?

how do you stop the concrete from seeping out underneath the large gap at the bottom?

You push some dirt around the gaps to fill them at the bottom.

I don't see any water tube connecting both measured points of the water level. Was it the ground water? See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_level_(device)

Thank you for the videos and your replies. You can use a garden water hose with both ends connected to a marked transparent plastic tubes. You can then move both ends to everywhere on your foundation or platform to check the levelness or degree of grades between them. (Regarding grades: It's the quotient of water level difference to the distance of water level marks of plastic tubes. We can implement this with electronics devices, nowadays...). If you would like to patent this idea, give me some credit! :)

Thank you for your pessimistic view of society and of me in particular, there are several ways to level this work, I just wanted to learn more about this method and I can clearly see some benefits to the water level, and i was wondering about any drawbacks or limitations, but thanks to your wisdom I will stop learning and just mindlessly hire a professional, should I just stop learning about everything or just about things in your field of expertise?

He has a fifty foot clear hose he added colored water to it. My uncle leveled our foundation this way back in the early 70s. It's very cool and very accurate way to level. You hold one end at your lowest/highest point (pick one) and make all the other points match it. Army Corps of Engineering.
