Making my first fish tank topper herb garden. using simple fill and overflow system. This probably not a long term setup but it was fun to practice and build.
This is an established tank, so I did not need to cycle since it already has ideal ph and biological cycles established.
I made many mistakes but here are the main ones:
1. Use plants without dirt, too hard to root clean whrn there are 3 in a pot.
2. Plastic planter is bowing at center, as water and clay is very heavy. I will need to add support in the middle.
3. Using a flat square planter would allow me to avoid silicone at the bulkheads.
Update, I added a planter box brace in the center, and also added a union on the pump intake line to allow quick disconnect for tank maintainable. Grow lights are on the way.
