Tips for kitchen layout, follow the golden triangle rule. This is to prevent electrocution or fire. Never place the refrigerator, stove, and sink next to each other. And also use a shorter window if u want to place it above your counter tables. This will give space for your backsplash. (These applies to real life) Love your videos!! ❤️

I have an idea for you: Make a basic shell, and put 4 identical versions of it on the same lot. Then do a different layout for each of the houses, with different concepts in mind: like, one could be open concept, one could be a family home, one could be an older closed concept home, or a sim who plans on having roommates lives there..... along those lines. It would be interesting to see how you would approach your layouts differently, and what the different possibilities could be, and showing them side-by-side.

Because I started out building in The Sims 2, I build my houses based on math rather than looks (although, I do make sure my houses look nice). And what I mean by that is, in TS2 you couldn't move rooms around and if I didn't want to have to delete what I build and adjust, I would make sure that my dining rooms were at least 5x6 (to fit a 2 tile table and 6 chairs) and that my master bedroom was at least 4x5, etc. If I wanted to have full living room (sofa, loveseat, chair with coffee table) I made start with a 6x7. So in essence I would build my houses based on room sizes, making the floorplan as I go. Sometimes I would build an open floorplan but the numbers would still apply. That's how I would draw it out, like I am seeing the rooms as I make the shape of the house. It's easier if I build room by room (not furnishing yet) but just making the shapes and fitting them together like a puzzle.

This is pretty close to how I build in the Sims--although I don't do the exterior (windows, doors, or outside decoration) for the most part until after I do the floorplan. This is a great video trying to get a good idea on how your thinking process is on your awesome builds, and also to help those who have a hard time getting started on their Sims adventure.

I feel like you could get a work from home job designing real floor plans because I've seen you do such ridiculous shell plans when I noticed some in the gallery, I was like... "the fuck is this?? That's nothing like what Syd Mac makes look easy," lol. I think it was you that got me back into building bc you make it look so fun with your creativity (I've been more of a CAS girl for a bit now) soo now I'm just taking a stroll through your build playlist 😂❤ You're awesome Syd, and I love Cancers even though I'm a Leo and we are such different signs... but I think most Cancers and Leos either love or hate each other, lol. I waited for this Video because we are doing architecture in school right now and we have to make a Floorplan😂 You could try that too. We have to make an Apartment for a Family with 3 Kids. 1 Kid is 1 Year old, the other one is 6 (Boy) and the last on is 12 (Boy) We need a Guest room for the Grandma and a Work space for both of the parents. The Kids Room/s shouldn’t be next to the living room. We also need Laundry, a Bathroom and all the other essentials. The Apartment is 10x12 Tiles😘 If you want to try it, you could do that, I think it’s kinda difficult to fit everything in such a little space. Windows and Doors you can do by yourself. You just can’t extend the Apartment and it doesn’t has to look good on the outside because it’s an Apartment, but you could try that too😘 I love your Videos❤️ It always looks so beautiful 😍

My tips are all playability-related. Put needs-rooms nearer the front of the house so you can tend to them and go straight to work, skill & socialising rooms further back. Put a clear counter directly next to the fridge so sims don't have walk past a sink to start cooking.
