Being drained due to work and then spending the rest of your time off trying to escape reality is so relatable! A lot of people don't even notice they're doing that. Do you still find yourself trying to escape reality after quitting your job or would you say things have changed in that aspect?
@kevji
@kevji Жыл бұрын
i feel like everyone, even those deep in creating their reality, are still met with shadows of looping into escapism perhaps even from the new life we've constructed! I feel like that from time and time and giving myself grace to feel that desire to escape from something and truly asking myself," What i am trying to escape or distract myself from? and What am i truly yearning for? that discernment always brings me back to gratitude and center. and those feelings have less and less density but still carry some powerful lessons!
@LynetteAdkins

Yes I definitely do! I tend to do it realizing it, especially when I'm in the midst of deeply spiritual/shadow phases of my life. It feels easier to run and distract myself instead of sitting with whatever painful feelings are coming up. I'm learning now that true rest is allowing your mind and body to just be & feel whatever it's feeling in that moment. It definitely takes time to unlearn tho since we're so trained to escape

this video is so timely. i'm passionate about yoga and learning languages. one thing i've discovered is that doing one (or both) of these BEFORE i go in to work allows me to do something for "myself" before i go out and do something for "the world." it also helps me to not feel guilty when i come home really tired because i've already spent time on my passions in the morning

Cries in ✨ nursing ✨. Requires so much physical and emotional labour. I have such a hard time balancing compassion for my patients who are going through the hardest times of their life, through their death and not bringing it home from work with me. Not to mention the 13hr shifts on my feet, killing my back moving patients that are way taller and heavier than me. But I have a lot of debt from putting myself through school that I feel stuck.

This is relatable, I'm a nurse too. I'm thankful for my job but its not my entire life as I have other passions. I hope you find your middle ground and not be caught up in the matrix! Our jobs are very demanding, but I dont rely on my "hard work" as my source of worth... its found elsewhere and more satisfying in the long run :)

I really love this video because you’re not preaching “quit your job “ recently I fell into depression because I was letting my job control my whole life and when off work I wouldn’t do anything for myself but lay in bed and just hate my life. Went to therapy and my therapist helped me create small daily goals to achieve around my work schedule. Now I’m not fully there but I’m learning to detach myself from my job and just do a little more than they ask for. When I’m off work I’m still making small goals to remember myself that life still goes on when I’m off work. I love my current job but I was putting in too much and forgetting all the other things that I loved to do.

Still having my down days and trying to really find me again. However, as far as my job I’ve learned to let go and not make it my identity. Literally just yesterday my best friend said he remember few months ago I would stress about missing work and having so much to do there, now I’m basically saying F that job lol. I do only what is required just like everyone else and if I’m getting too overwhelmed I step back and remind myself if I drop dead on this job they will replace me by the end of the week. I hope you find your balance because a job is just not worth the kind of peace we want to feel. 💜

Content creation brings me joy, like so much joy that I’ve been doing it for years and making zero money and now after all this time, paid opportunities are coming my way. I agree with you, when you are working your day job that you know you despise, your escape must be working on your passion. I used every waking moment as a working mom when I wasn’t at my day job, working on my passions. I’m still doing it although I have a job I love now, but I still make sure I pursue my passions because I know it’s going to lead me exactly where it’s supposed to.

This is what I've been doing, no cap! Key skills needed are, time managing, time blocking, deep work and a blue print. I wake up at 4:30, go for runs, come back and start my office work at 6:30 instead of 9am. This gives me a head start, and what work I take to finish working over time usually, I complete everything mostly before 12pm. After 12 pm, all the time is mine, and I focus on my passions and goals. Of course my employer doesn't know so here and there they might throw in an extra work task, usually minimal. But the tough part is, being at home my mum keeps bugging me with tasks during my free time, things I wouldn't ever bother about. So yeah, it's been a battle to keep time for myself but I'm working on it.

This video came right on time in the mist of a crucial time in my personal journey and shadow work. I completely resonated with the information. The only thing about my particular 9-to-5 is that I work in healthcare, and for a large organization at that. It’s very hard to negotiate change in my position even though we have a union. But I am not using that As an excuse, I have come to terms that I’m unhappy in my current job and it 100% takes me away from what I am truly passionate about, I’m taking the little time I have after work to study and master what my passions are in hopes, one day, I can change positions allowing more time for myself.

I definitely feel like in need more time for me and I just got the other job just for extra money .. but it’s not serving me I’ve had so many jobs in my life to be young I’m not doing any studying and the things that I want to accomplishing I watch youtube Netflix eat and lay in bed for hours before going to sleep . Thank you! I really needed to hear this today. Been feeling stuck at my job lately and really want to follow my passions(horticulture/growing my own food)

Thats beautiful! Me too, ive been trying to grow my own food this last cycle. Something that has always helped me deeply is releasing the expectation that i NEED to show up doing my passion every day in a certain way. Letting is flow organically and Sometimes the best feeling is just sitting out there and observing and doing small things that make you feel like you are aligning with that dream that don't necessarily need to be the HUGE Actions that we often associate with following our passions. its always the little ways that we can give and receive

I have a passion for traveling!! I love planning trips and experiencing this huge world. I work remotely so feel like I could do this more often but it’s a constant battle of knowing I need to save money vs wanting to live my life

Stay at home author. Came here for the "dream life" part, but I am glad that I watched still. A good reminder that I need to do what it takes to thrive without returning to working for someone else's dream life by necessity ever. Nice to see that you are proving this can be done.
