This is like a breath of fresh air channel - I love EDC content but sometimes it gets too in the product weeds, this is a cool concept for a video, looking forward to the office EDC post!

Ok so since you asked. I live in the Netherlands, so I luckily don't need a car and can go anywhere using a bike and public transport (it's amazing, can recommend). Also, I work at an office normally, I like to go climbing after work and in the weekends I might go to sleep over at a friend's house. So, my EDC literally consists of a small tiny bike pump and some small but useful tools to repair the most common issues on my bike when I need to. I also have some backup bike lights that double as flashlights. Also, there's a spoon in there, very nice when buying some food while travelling. Then I carry things you can find in your mom's purse to survive a day at the office, some painkillers, floss (item I use the most), mints, a pen, etc. Also, a tiny measuring tape is hard to substitute when you need it. For climbing I always carry nailclippers and a bit of sports tape, the nailfile on the clippers is also great during the day. And for staying over at friends I just have stuff to charge my phone and watch. As well as, very important, a small sharpening stone. I've rarely cooked at someone else's house where the knives were actually cutting instead of mushing the tomatoes. With some smart shopping and thinking it all fits in a small pouch in my backpack, there when I need it. Much better than some of the random items I had in there before and had to constently think about not to forget. Happy I made the kit.

This sort of thinking is exactly what I try to put out there to other people in the hobby/lifestyle. You nail it so succinctly! So glad I found your channel! Really deserves more subs and views! this video is great. I was super into knives and always bought the nicest ones for quite a while...then realized how much money I was spending for no reason. I now carry a Victorinox Cadet and a TPT Slide as my only blades for the most part and find them more than adequate for my day-to-day. Leatherman curl lives in my sling/hip pack as my only other bladed tool really.

I’m a truck driver and my EDC is like part urban survival/travel granted I’m home every night but I’m still in the truck for 13 hours a day so I like to have access to things like painkillers and certain tools to even help fix things on the truck if something happens.

I work from home, but have a carry. I also live on an acre so need a knife or too often.

You would think this would all be really simple and easy but right now I'm struggling to redo my complete EDC Setup..from my pocket carry all the way too my car packs (just downgraded from an SUV with plenty of space to a 4door sedan). Anyway I'm deciding what to keep, replace or completely remove...This is not something to half-ass.

Use to do warehousing in high school / college. Carried a Benchmade bone collector knife. Thing had that stupid bone collector logo. As I got older and transitioned into nursing, I carried a leatherman skeletool. Now I carry a sebenza. Make more money now and appreciate quality / simplicity.

Not carrying if working from home makes no sense. If I need something, I need it NOW! Going hunting for things takes precious seconds I'm not willing to sacrifice. Sure, I don't always carry the same gear. My casual and work carry are different, to some extent. Depending on what I'm doing, my carry may change a bit, but those things are obviously not really my EDC. Having lived in many states and countries, my carry is carefully curated. Generally, I'm prepared for the day.

I think too many people confuse EDC with survival/bug out bag carry. EDC should be what you're likely to need or have on a daily basis, NOT what you need for emergency situations etc! I see people carrying 4 different forms of starting a fire, fishing line & hooks in case they are stranded & need to hunt for food, a compass, 3 water filters & a ton of other shit they 99% of the time NEVER use or need daily. It's ridiculous imo! That shit belongs in your bug out bag in your car, NOT EDC on your person. My EDC on my person is: -Springfield XD-40 in it's holster -Cold Steel American Lawman knife (S3V5N blade swapped with the old thicker & better AUS8 frame) -Quick Clot gauze bandages -Tourniquet -Vostok Amphibia "scuba dude" divers watch -Wallet -Cell phone -Keychain (2 Streamlight Nano lights, handcuff key, Leatherman Squirt) That's it! I work in Law Enforcement. Hence why I carry the TQ & Quick Clot on my person at all times. I've always got a bug out bag in my car that I'm near at all times, & when at work that bag travels with me in my work car. That has the other shit in it that's NOT potentially immediately needed on a daily basis.

What do you do? Nothing, so where does that leave me in the edc world? Where do you live? City, warm summer, so does that mean I shouldn't edc an umbrella? Who are you? A grumpy old man, still a good question though. I like durable stuff (like titanium). No, The real 3 questions are. Do you need it? Do you use it? Do you want it? Yeah, basically Sam's third question In the example of the umbrella Do you need it? Yes, it is my safety bubble, I got a phobia, I'd like very much to be able to breathe, so yes, I do need it Do you use it? Every day Do you want it? Not this one, no, I want the unbreakable umbrella (just google unbreakable umbrella, should be the top result) But I do nothing, it isn't raining and my umbrella is flimsy (aka not durable), meaning my umbrella failed all 3 original questions, so I shouldn't bring it with me?

I never leave my house without my keys, my wallet, my phone, a Leatherman free p4, and a Glock 43x. That is what I have on me regardless of what I’m wearing any day of the week.
