Please do an intermediate build, but with basic tools. No airbrush but cans, no special clear glue but woodglue. Stuff like that. A clean build but with basic investment. So that the guys with small allowance can do a pretty good build too. Would love to see that. Voor de rest doe je het super ;) Al veel bijgeleerd.

Tamiya thin cement is cheap and lasts for a long time. Woodglue (known as a form of pva) and only would be useful using on the clear parts as it would not bond the plastic for that you would need a polycement and with Tamiya thin cement is simple to use and easy to apply.

I will do one in the future once i have cleared all the commission work out of the way. Though keep in mind, spray cans are not cheap either if you have to buy 5 every build you do. The run out fast and can mostly only be used for 1 maybe 1,5 builds. Wood glue is pretty much just as cheap or expensive as the CA glue i use in these videos. so is the cement. Though they are valid points. I also do have 2 video series(old ones) on using spray cans ;)

Yeah, starting off with harder kits always winds up being an uphill battle all the way. One suggestion I would make is to, if possible, set that kit aside for a while and pick up a couple of easier, cheaper kits; there are two reasons I suggest this; 1) Cheaper kits don't hurt as much if you make mistakes; and 2) Once you've completed a couple of kits, you'll have some idea of the possible hiccups you might encounter and this will give you a lot more confidence which will make that expensive, harder kit seem a lot less daunting. If that's not an option, then I would suggest just moving slowly on the harder kit; do *a lot* of dry fitting (testing where pieces go before applying any sort of adhesive), take frequent breaks, especially if you begin to get tired/frustrated because you're more likely to make mistakes during those moments and just try to learn everything you can from each step of the process. I can't guarantee that the kit will come out great, but you *will* learn a lot and it will help you in moving forward with the hobby.

Just bought my first kit and my plan was to only buy the kit for now, keep it somewhat cheap, try choose between Revell, Tamiya and AMT and stay away from Nissan’s because I will probably make a mistake. After some thought I was between a $45 Fujimi R32, a $45 Revell 918 and a $30 Tamiya MX-5. The mx-5 was exactly what I was looking for, cheap, top quality, 1:24 scale (all 3 options where 1:24) and something I love but not something I’d be devastated if I broke. I was about to buy the MX-5 then I stupidly put it down and bought the R32. Super excited though just hope it turns out good

Krzysztof Durlak I think he meant a brush with the bristles, I've never done it with a good outcome so I have no say in that, but 600 is the PERFECT grit if you're going to prime, but if not I would just clean and dry the body.
@duriel1993
@duriel1993 7 жыл бұрын
yeah i meant the classical brush, with the bristles as you said. The problem is, when i watch the videos on this channel, how he uses the brush and paint, makes me wonder, how in the hell can he keep on painting without dipping the brush in paint every 2 seconds. It looks like he has a lot of the paint on the brush, but he applies just a little, I know it might be the matter of applying little pressure to the surface ;P I've tried many things, but still either the paint dries too quickly on my brush, or I run out of paint after two swipes with the brush.

You can use transparent epoxy to glue clear parts. You can get the 5-minute curing one anywhere including supermarkets (at least in Europe). Yes, it is not that convenient as you will need to mix the two parts together but it sure as hell holds strong.

The only thing you really missed was the test fit! Other than that this was a great idea. Without (perhaps?) intending to you captured the excitement of opening the box and seeing that fresh virgin plastic. How is this a dying hobby? Yeah, but you can't force it on people. I have 5 kids, and I tried to introduce each one into model building. Only my single daughter showed any interest at all and even that was temporary amusement. Unfortunately patience and attention spans have become increasingly shorter. It is ironic because now more than ever we have some awesome capabilities in this hobby. 3D printing, the ability to create your own decal sheets, aftermarket parts suppliers, better molding technology and increasingly better and more accurate kits...Even paints and glues have come a long way. I was introduced to Bob Smith CA through pen turning, it is an awesome line. No, the hobby will definitely keep going, I just don't understand why it has lost such popularity. I suppose gaming and social media played a big part.

hi, about the CA glue, Zap make the Plasti-zap, that one is designed to work with plastic models, it glues ABS and vinyl too and it is said does not fog clear parts, I have to test it... but it is very good stuff!, zap also does the Poly-ZAP wich is repported to work realy well with clear parts.

My first kit many years ago in the late 90's was the Revell 1969 Camaro Z28. $15. Box was beaten up and it turns out parts were missing, biggest one being the hood. I got glue, Tamiya silver, black and white. You don't need the others, right? Also got cheap blue spray paint. I didn't use primer. I had never painted anything before and the end result was a mess, I had runs, sags pretty much every defect possible. Should have tried to paint something else first lol. The paint was not plastic friendly and melted the body in places. I have made more cars and they have been much better. I turned that Camaro into a derby car and then one day it fell from my shelf and broke, the running gear was re-used into a different car, the broken shell went into the bin. I went from that to getting a cert in autobody finish. I've painted a few more kits as well as cars and motorbikes over time.

Like this video... Just wondering is it better? To paint the parts and then glue them or glue them together and then paint them.

You can remove them unless you’re a complete forgetful dum dum, they have pictures on the instruction sheet And do not leave them on the sprue to paint, you cut them off and leave a nice white cut mark you have to touch up

Nice video on explaining the steps and glues to use on the different types of parts. It was good and informative. Only one thing that was a little distracting to me about the video was your blocky way of speaking. You would pause between each word as you trie to annunciate as best you could but it can be a little distracting and doesn’t flow. Just speak without all of the pauses in between each and every word and it will certainly improve the overall quality of your videos.

This is possible without a kit right? a long time ago probably around 2008 or something i saw this video where the person was building the body with some sort of plastic/plaster stuff and some sort of glue that dried and hardened. This seems much much simpler but i believe most people don't do it for the simplicity but for the process and the fun in making something.
