It's still a good idea IMO to rub some acetone over the shaft before wrapping, and then wet wipe the wrap and dry it before the vanes go on. I have yet to have a single wrap fall off this way.

This was a very informative vid regarding fletching the vanes, after a good year schooting with standard blazer vanes on the easton fmj's, i finally found a reliable source with good tip's and trick's for securing the vanes. if i'm able to get to the shop this week, i think that i'm gonna buy the first set allready installed, and a set for learning to fletch my own. Great upload and well explained, thanks!

Thank you for sharing this with us. I too am a fan of the orange 🍊. I have the same Easton fletching jig that I recently bought. However I don't have a saw or straightening jig yet. Still debating on whether I should try Victory, Easton, Gold Tip or Black Eagle. I am also thinking of going 4 fletch with a slight helical. I don't think that the jig I have is for helical vanes though.

I have a few questions, I see some builders will install a sleeve that is on the outside of the shaft where the broad head is screwed in. Why? I think I know but would like to hear from someone that professionally builds arrows and in this video, you didn't mention that option. Also, I want to get into building arrows and bows any good resources that a person can watch or even read up on. Great job on the video, so far yours has been the best without getting so technical and straying away from what you are teaching. Thank you, Jay

Awesome great video thank you. When it come to weight how do I know what weight is best for the type of broad-heads I’m using? I don’t want to just get any set of arrows and slap on the broad-heads I like to use? My current arrow is 350 grains .244 diameter. The broad-heads I’m using are 125 grain Annihilators XL, how can I determine what insert and outserts I need and the length of fletching that I should use? The arrows came with aluminum inserts which I would like to change.

This was a great video and very detailed. I think I know the answer but just to be sure, if you were building these for hunting, I'm assuming you want to put on the broad head you want to use and then align the fletching to the broad head blades before you glue them on, correct? Just wanna be sure cause I think I'd like to try building my own for hunting season this year.
@bowhuntordie
@bowhuntordie 3 жыл бұрын
That depends on if you're going to use a fixed or mechanical broadhead. If you're using a 3-blade fixed head, it would benefit you to align the vanes with the broadhead blades. But with mechanical broadheads, as Justin uses, it doesn't matter.

Built my first set this year. Went heavy. 250 spine Sirius Vulcans, 150gn insert with 200gn single bevel head. ~730gn arrow with FOC around 16%. You guys ever insert tune or nock tune? I feel like you'll guarantee better arrow flight if you insert tune before you glue them in and bare-shaft nock tune before you fletch.

1. Pushed insert in too far. 2. Epoxy glue might cause a chemical reaction to the carbon and adhesive. 3. Your oil fingerprints all over wrap. 4. way too much glue on vanes. 5. didn't index insert with vanes. 6. way too much glue will cause arrow to be unbalanced.7. Water and Q-tip to clean inside of arrow is hogwash. Please do better if you're going to have a KZfaq channel teaching people on arrow building.
