I got a request from our subscriber Shantanu to show How To Bulk Upload Resources Data to Primavera P6 Using Excel
So, let us see this in this tutorial in detail.
Most of us maintain all the scheduling data in excel as part of planning.
So, you have to keep it ready in the planning stage itself with all the required resources data including their naming nomenclatures.
For example, like this on resources part for a sample schedule. I have activity Id, name and Resource id and respective budgeted units maintained in Excel like shown in this video.

Yes, here created resources are assigned to the activities in XER since Resource ID column in excel sheet is filled with created ID's (T1, T2 & T3) respectively...

Hi sir, I am working on a base plan of highway project with around 500 activities. I need to load multiple resources types with multiple budgeted quantities against each activity. Say earthwork in embankment will attract excavator, dumper, grader, vibrio roller, water tanker, borrowed earth etc. each having different budgeted resources quantities and different BOQ quantities as well. How to do this by excel export and import? Your kind support will help me a lot.

Hi, Followed step by step. While importing the file, an error is occurring which is as below- The User Preferences used to create this Excel file are not the same as your current preferences. Importing this file could corrupt your data. Please refer to Help for more information about importing data from Excel. Are you sure that you want to continue? Can you pls help me out in this?

Hi, First export the schedule into excel to get the right format and then import post entering the data into the excel sheet.

yes, it is. Its already shown in this video. you need to just enter the same in a new row for new resource.

I got it..For every new resource copy and paste the respective activities again and again...What if I put “comma” inbetween adding second resource in the same cell of the column( adding two resources inside same cell with comma in between)

Yes, It is like normal import only, File > Import > Select Spreadsheet-(XLS). I will try to publish a short video on this soon.

@@dptutorials i think it is not possible to import new Resources to P6. Because Primavera can't read "Resource Type".

Can you please explain how to import the "Resource Names" because the exported excel file has an Asterix (*) in the Resource Name field and is therefore "Un-editable" and ignored by P6 during import.

You can replace the * in the excel
