I LOVED how after he beautifully showed the trick in step 3 (I call it trick after watching many videos with no mentioning how to lift the rear wheel) that he showed how to practice it standing still, even BETTER... THANKS MAN :)

Great video. Pointed out a few things I didn't know. How to lift the rear wheel was missing from the other videos I watch. Thanks for the vid.

Brilliant!.. Why can't any other video on KZfaq about bunny hopping be as simplistic and as well explained as this tutorial.. Thanks Rubicon.

I agree... For years I've been trying to learn to bunny hop, and the best I've had is, "You just kinda scoop it up!" All well and good saying that when you know how to do it, but it's not a good explanation! For years I've been struggling to "scoop" so hopefully this detailed explanation will help me! :) Thanks Rubicon Lines!!!

I've been trying this for ages and failing miserably but seeing your video explains the whole back foot lift part a lot better than the other videos on here. I shall go out this weekend and do it this time!.

this is so bad that I feel the need of making my first video. this is not how you do the bunny hop! steps: 1. lean back so that your hands are straight and push hard on your pedals. this will bring the front wheel up and push the rear wheel down. 2. pull your handlebar so that it is super close to your body. point 1 and 2 should be done in one fluent motion. 3. bend your knees and straighten your arms pushing your bike ahead of you. this will cause the rear wheel to jump by the force of the pressure that you accumulated in step 1. forget about this video. this is just plain wrong. there is no such thing in bunny hop as pulling your rear wheel with your pedal. the whole thing shown here is really misleading.

Honestly, i just watched this (knowing how to bunny hop) and this is completely all wrong. He doesnt explain how to actually lift the front of the bike, or how you should know how to manual, and the way he explained to lift the back wheel is wrong. This is an extremely bad explanation, and begginers should not be taking this advice. I would explain how to actually bunny hop, but thankfully Goroncy was kind enought to actually write up the proper way of how to do a bunny hop.

The animation was amazing and very clear to understand - Thank you! I'm a single track trail rider in North Carolina and if you wouldn't mind; would you create a video for 10 to 20 foot downhill drops? I've heard there is a good technique to keeping the body centered over the pedals...

To those who have difficulty with the bonny hop: (1) the bike matters. The frame should not be too long so that you can lift the front wheel relatively easily. (2) it helps if you have trial bike pedals (with little needles for better grip).

I knew there was some sort of torque applied to the handle bars but I never knew about the pedal trick. Lowering the seat I didn't think about that also. Today it was easier for me to get more height by using the breaks and the clicking sound right when I let go of both breaks just added that extra dimension of coolness. I wish I saw this video when I was younger.

Using the animation to explain the steps helps me a lot. For a non athletic person like me, I cannot even lift the front wheel before. Now I realized my body weight is on the paddle. With the crouch and jump coordination , I'm able to lift the front wheel with easy!

Don't get me wrong, I really, enjoyed this tutorial, I really do. But just for clarification, its called a J-hop if the rear wheel lands first and then the front. Its a bunny hop when they land at the same time. The person in the tutorial J-hopped.

i think he has the process fundamentally wrong, you should be brig the front end of the bike up long before you ever "jump up" from the pedals.. that is just wrong and will get you no where.

no, my 550£ mtb has no restriction about it. My bike is Rockrider 8.1 and it says in the brochure "Side branches of this bike: BMX, Freeride, Descente" but in any other rockrider's brochure (even 3200£ carbon mtb) it says "Not designed for BMX, Dirt, Downhill or Racing."
