Hi Paula, I'm trying to figure out if malware can escape the default setting windows sandbox? or can it escape windows sandbox in general? from what i can tell it's safe.. but thats the thing, you never know with malware

Awesome question! Windows Sandbox can help with behavioural driven analysis - you can quickly and easily start new Windows instance and use tools - such as ProcMon - to see what’s going on. It doesn’t offer more advanced functionality, though. Other sandbox environments can log (almost) all actions performed by malware (by tracing API and syscalls), create a customized environment that imitates typical workstation, and offer better isolation options (e.g. they can simulate real corporate network while traffic never really leave sandbox). They will often provide you with a detailed report afterwards.
