One thing I was taken by last march when I went to some Tennessee and Kentucky distilleries was how polite, accommodating, and friendly the staff was at every place we visited. It was a great experience. I wish I would have went years ago.

Agreed! Most of them are pretty cool. I've had one really forgettable experience with awful customer service and one really mediocre, but have visited 15 in Kentucky the past couple of years and nearly all have been great.

I did some starlight picks with Mash and Journey yesterday. That place is amazing. Thanks for showing that. Andrew Jerdonek does a phenomenal job. Ted Huber and his family are top notch people. I’m happy to be only an hour away.

Yeah, definitely could have done each pick as it's own video. We have several single location picks shot that will be individual videos. When we shot this, we weren't sure what we'd be able to show and not show so we just did the whole trip as a video.

Glad to see ya doing some barrel picks in my backyard. I'm a huge fan of Hubers finished Ryes and their cigar batch bourbon and ryes are off the charts good.

Four roses is one of the most outstanding bourbons I believe My own personal opinion they do wonderful stuff I've got a lot of Ohio single barrel picks to go through but everyone is delicious especially the 12 and 14 years

@@zptwin2 I'm in Ohio so Ohio does a good job with their private select pics anything single barrel barrel strength last year they had some 10-year 6 month bottles plus some almost 12-year-old bottles that came out but they go very very quick people line hours in advance

Single Barrel Store Picks is what I'm focusing on now. I've found a number of options including Knob Creek, Angel's Envy, Yellowstone, Wilderness Trail and Peerless. I'm hoping to find Four Roses OESO or OESV store picks in my area. That's where I want to start and if I like them move into the other recipes.

Be very careful with those Starlight barrels. They're mighty tasty when you're six to ten samples deep, but they arrive hotter and not always what you remember. Hope you sell all four barrels!

Yeah I’ve gotten 4 different Starlight picks from 3 whiskey groups and they all disappointed me. Not sure what all the hype is about them but I’ve personally given up on the distillery

One of them is actually a Rolling Fork Rum finished in Weller Barrels so I'm confident we are good there. The VDN and Rum Agricole are definitely a bit more niche, but the bourbon we chose was actually an early barrel we tried so I think we landed a pretty good one.

That looks like a lot of fun. Without tasting, i would have gone south the Fruity notes and not the herbal notes on the Four Roses pick. I hace only tried one barrel pick and it's OESV at 9+ years. I really like it. 👍

Wait until you go to heaven Hill if you haven't already been there they take you inside of one of the brand new Rick houses and you get to experience the whole thing I took a 360 view picture from the floor to the ceiling of the barrels and everyone thinks it's absolutely awesome so if you get in there get your phone out and do the 360 camera that takes multiple pictures you won't be disappointed I'm having mine put on a wall

Some of the most enjoyable moments I've had with whiskey is tasting out of a barrel right in the rickhouse. Will check in the whiskey wasteland surrounding Troy, AL to see if I can find a bottle or two of Starlight. They look like my kind of people. Cheers,

This was fun to follow. Haven't had the chance to do a barrel pick before so interesting to see how it's handled at different distilleries. I was at Peerless not too far off from your visit (Father's Day weekend), and that brunch barrel pick of theirs was delicious. I only ended up taking a bottle of the absinthe finished whiskey home, though.

@@nick263 I love it but it's not subtle at all, so you definitely need to enjoy the anise flavor. I've been meaning to try it in a sazerac but haven't yet. I love sipping it by the firepit on a summer night, though!

If you want a super duper weird whiskey, and want a full barrel, here in Finland there is a distillery that does those. They're called Teerenpeli distillery, you can pick your own barrel and they make it custom. Their distillate is awesome, they use the same suppliers for products that all the best scottish distilleries of yesteryear used. Like same malts and all that. They have custom-built scottish style stills and everything. They have even done custom things that are kinda sacrilege for long time customers, like my dad that had a I think half-barrel of whiskey flavoured with Terva, or Tar as you call it. It's super awesome, but very overwhelming.

I'd really love it if you could one day get out to Denver and visit Leopold Bros. They are treating their whiskey like scotch. They're floor malting in-house, have an triple column distillation process that runs hotter and slower than a continuous still. They talk a big game and their whiskey brings in a huge price tag. I'd love to know if they're worth the hype.
