Its really nice to see a young lady who is so keenly interested in her family's tradition of farming. There's SO many people Kate's age who unfortunately don't have much interest in their own family traditions and even sadder a portion of them might come from families that have struggled over the years in establishing or maintaining a family tradition worth being interested in. Shout out to Kate and HER family for setting the best kind of example there is.....one that lasts for generations.

Kate job well done, your interviews were right down to earth, the DeBruycker Family has done a fine job on improving the Charolais, I listen to one of their clients say temperament was very good in this herd of DeBruycker Charolais & they had got most of the problems out of their Herd, when you hear this from a Client you can see why they keep coming back to buy their Bulls, the Bulls,looking at them generally seem very well balanced with good fleshing, great temperament , walk out with good leg moment the shoulders seem smooth and clean with correct width between the Shoulders this makes for better calving, I think on a whole this herd of Debruycker seems to have every thing you want for a meat machine producing beef out in the open fields, again I take my Hat of to this Family to produce a large pure Herd of Charolais for the Cattle producers , 700 Bulls are a the Best Sign of successful breeding. This reminds me of the time I worked the sale barns here in stockyards city, Oklahoma City, known as packing town, the stories I could tell you, like the time I work the scales as they move the bulls in the sales pin to be actioned, I had a cattle prod and I slipped while moving a Brahma bull and hit him somewhere we won't talk about, and a 3000 lb bull almost made short work of me with a six-foot rack of horns.and how they also had the best and cheapest food around,great vid Kate

When i first saw the title of the video i imagined Kate as a judge showing us the standards of the ideal bull addressing various body parts and attributes, including the appropriate proportions, using her hands to inspect the muscles, stance, weight, coat texture, teeth and why not the hooves. No need for attitude criteria the bulls have a great personality and are not camera shy.

It is interesting that farmers are looking for a great temperament in their bulls. A family friend of ours lost her father when he went out one evening to move a bull from one corral to another. He did not return and they went out to check. The bull had cornered her father and that was it. The bull had never ever been a concern. It is a sad story. So when a rancher says that he looks for a gentle temperament, my ears perk up.

Oh man. What a blast from the past. When I was too young to remember, we had Charolais. My dad swapped them out for Black Angus. When I heard that we had them, I asked him why he changed and he said "They were the most fence crawlingest sons of er, uh cattle he'd ever seen. They even climbed up on the haystack." He didn't screw around when it came to problem animals, so that was that. Personally I have nothing against them but I have no practical experience. Our black angus herd did really well so I'm a fan of those for a number of reasons.

I watched both of these videos Kate. Great interviews. Charolais have always been great bovine. All for years in High School I was in the FFA. When it came time to show our cattle at the annual Fair the Charolais were either Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion almost every year. Don’t get me wrong I like the Santa Gertrudis, Herefords and Red or Black Angus.
