Halloooo Maggie! Found you by accident on youtube and now I'm addicted! I watch one of your videos first thing every morning while making my tea. You are so happy and funny and smart, and you have the same love for old buildings that I do. I sell real estate in LA now and previously restored Victorian homes in San Francisco for many years. Didn't know anyone else could be such a nut about little things like doorknobs or window latches and built ins! Haha! We are obviously related in spirit! In process of getting an EU passport thru my Italian husband, and someday will buy a Cheap Irish House and move there! Ennis & Howth are favorites, and there's so much more to discover :) Anyway, just wanted to say HELLO and give you a thumbs up! You're a breath of fresh air and a great inspiration! And the craic! You've got it all! What's the name of your TV show?

Quite helpful for sure! If you ever feel the urge...perhaps a topic of interest - especially for us overseas - may be how to manage sympathetic renovations if we aren't planning on being there full time right away. What are some challenges, what's it like doing renos with vintage homes using tradespeople? It's intimidating enough doing it here in America - eek! I feel a seaside cottage calling in Mayo, Donegal or Connemara but the idea of tackling and managing that work part-time is SCARY!

Thank YOU so much for this great 3 part series for Not Irish Citizens! I have had a fascination with Ireland since I was 16 and am now 67, I would fall into the Retiree category so this was very helpful for putting into perspective the hurdles I would face. Appreciate all your work in providing this information and the great video episodes you produce. Love your series!

I love your videos you're so happy and bubbly About Properties, especially the old ones. My grandmother came over from Ireland to the USA when she was little she came from County Cavan. My husband has a great-grandparent that was from Ireland but we don't know the history beyond that. I do have relatives still in Ireland that are cousins I've never met. I have never been able to visit Ireland I just can't afford it. But it is a dream of mine.

Thank you so much for this channel! It is a dream to love live in Ireland, but I guess my great grandmother is not going to help me speed up the process. What counties do you recommend for expats? If you did a video about the counties, I would watch them all.

I just LOVE everything about you! You’re so positive and energetic and fun to listen to! I’m from the east coast of the US, but my paternal grandmother, my nana, was born and raised in County Mayo, just a few miles south of Westport. My cousin now lives with her family in the house my nana grew up in with her 7 siblings on 50 acres and I’m dying to move back perhaps nearby, but definitely in Mayo preferably with view of Croagh Patrick, just like my Nana had! I put in my application for Foreign Born Birth citizenship over a year ago but with COVID, obviously patience is going to have to be a virtue on receiving that. Once that hopefully comes through, then it’s time to apply for the passport. Once the passport is in hand, then I will start looking in earnest for an old cottage. There is a ruin on my cousin’s land that I would love love love to build back, and the view of the mountain is to die for. Thanks for all your guidance and positivity - your energy makes me hopeful that I will someday soon be living my dream!

Evening Maggie - Sage advice to keep in mind - I have a question in regards to Northern Ireland - I have visited Belfast a few times, the city has grown leaps & bounds over the last 15 yrs, it seems to be money invested there , its a beautiful city, lots to see and do - My Grandfather had been a part of the building the Titanic - stayed in a lovely apt by the docks - What would you advise I do, if I were to buy a home there or maybe not ?? Thanks again xo

Hey Maggie, I would really appreciate a video about the internet in rural Ireland. I'm sure many of us here have the dream of taking our remote jobs to rural Ireland but perhaps, if this was as easy as it seems, there wouldn't be so many people living in Dublin! Can you typically get ADSL or fiber in the countryside, away from a village? How does satellite internet work out? Is it as reliable as the providers make out? Does it cut out each time it rains? What has been your experience? Are there properties or areas to avoid if a reliable internet connection would be a deal-breaker?

Hi, I'm living in a rural area in Nth Tipperary, near Upperchurch. The internet coverage is very hit and miss here, aswell as cell phone coverage. I'm in a valley which makes things worse. I couldn't even get regular t.v. service. I have fairly good broadband but have to use a booster box, this does cut out for a few minutes one or twice a week. I have sky satalite TV which works well. I hope this helps.

Great work! Thank you for the series. “...for non-citizens...”. Wow. Was it my accent that gave me away? When my family lived in Ireland it was in King’s County. Then I found out it is now Offaly County. Next, I got some genealogy info showing rented property (for his farm) in a village near Tullamore. 90 day max per year. Hummm... In any event, your videos are outstanding. Thank you.

Hey Mayo's not bad, when it's not in cloud!😂Kerrys very pretty too but anywhere pretty is pricey. You pay for the view but when your sight fails you in later years what is it worth then? I'd say the greatest gift is polite neighborhood. And that bit is partly down to you.😉

Such a pity that Irish great-grandparents don't count towards descent. Three of mine were born in Ireland, and 12 great-great grandparents. All these came to Australia.

Thank you so much for your amazing videos, especially this series! I found your channel and am so excited to have this great source of knowledge to help in my dream of moving to Ireland! I have to get UK citizenship first, along with continue saving here in Canada, but now I know I can likely purchase land and build a home in my favorite place in the world! I am curious about the ability to build with cob or strawbale building techniques. It's hard to get planning permission in Canada to do that type of natural building, but I know cob houses are still standing in Ireland and all over Europe after 100 years, so I am hopeful these methods are still used and approved by local codes. Does anyone watching know, or could send me a link to find out?

My great or great great granddad came from County Kerry. I’ve been to Ireland twice and love it. I think I’d rather live in a little village. I need to come back and rent a car this time. I might be able to get German citizenship from my other grandma or maybe even Scotland. I won’t have an income of $50k so that may be a deal breaker. I’ll do the research. I just found your channel and love it. My from the US.

Your videos are so helpfull and I enjoy listening to you. My husband and I are EU citizens and we are planing to move to ireland soon, we also plan to buy a house when we move in and we already have some money saved up for the deposit. My questions are, how long do we have to live or work in ireland to be able to apply for and get a mortgage? do you have an idea of how much money we have to be earning if the house we want to purchase is around 250k or above? Your response will be highly appreciated.

My 6x Great Grandparents are from a small area outside of Belfast. SO... I probably wouldn't qualify for descent but I would LOVE to live in their hometown. Would be epic to live on the same street or same house... but that was in the 1700s. :-) But I have LOVED every adventure my husband and I have had there.
