You have to specify the exact state. Each state has its own process and laws

In NC there is a mental test given to you on an iPad to make sure you are eligible to own a gun

Here in Texas with a valid LTC your background check is already done. Fill out a 4473 and leave. Transfers take longer to verify serial #’s than it is to get out of there

Very different to us here in Australia. We have to go online and submit a permit to aquire which takes 28 days to be approved or not then you can go pick up your gun. Absolutely ridiculous 😅

I recommend getting a CCW permit. I have seen more than once a person who was waiting for their background (NICS) check to complete. I walked over, found what I wanted, did the 4473, paid, and left. Those other people were still just waiting for the check and I was already out the door.

Unless in NJ where EVERY gun gets registration forms linked to it and can’t buy ANY gun without a purchaser ID card and the background check doesn’t take a few minutes it takes 3-4 days and if you do come back “clear to purchase” you THEN go to pick up the gun & if you decide to buy another one while you are there picking yours up you need to go through the whole process again and wait 3-4 days to pick up the other one even though you are walking out with a gun that day anyways and if you want multiple handguns you need a separate license to purchase handgun’s and can only purchase one handgun every 30 days each handgun purchased under its own license unless you get a collectors FFL which is a WHOLE other process and fees.

Here in the UK you have to find the right person which will lead you down a sketchy ally then leave you £5000 in a drain until 2 weeks later in witch a brown bag appears in your living room and behold you first gun.

It's the same in Croatia. Only our background check is done in local police station. And then you go to a gun store with already done paperwork. The whole process takes about 14 days. The only difference is that you have to take a psychological exam when you buy your first gun and that psych evaluation is valid permanently .

I live in Kentucky. Here, if you have a CCDW permit, you do have to fill out the 4473, but they don't have to run your background. Having a permit, you've already been cleared to purchase and carry firearms. So you just fill out the form and buy your gun!

In Massachusetts you have to take a Gun safety course and a live shooting range course. Then submit an application in your nearest police station and then if everything comes back well they will give you your gun license

I am a license gun owner here in the Philippines and it is not easy for us to get a legal gun. You don't need to take a safety course in order to buy a motor vehicle. Here in Tennessee,you walk in the gun store,pick out the gun that you intend to buy,pay the money & wait for the background check. If you pass,you walk out with your new gun. If the transfer is denied,you fax an appeal to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation & they rerun the check & either approve the sale or tell you what you need to prove a felony arrest did not result in a felony conviction.

in missouri i can buy a gun in like 20 minutes takes maybe 5 minutes to fill out form less than that for a proceed in my case everytime so far and pay then leafve with my property

As a Tasmanian I really want a gun for recreational hunting/shooting but a bloke went and shot a few people a few years ago at a little place called port Arthur and so out government done a "buy back" and then dramatically made it harder to buy a rifle or any gun for that fact. Usually pistols cost around 5 thousand reals, shotguns around seven - eight thousand and currently you can't even buy rifles, because to the eyes of the Supreme Federal Court, 5.56 is too strong and dangerous. 🤦‍♂️ They call it "restricted calibers". Dumbest thing ever. And if you're not in the military or police you can't even carry your pistol! If it goes one inch outside of your property, the Federal Police takes it from you. The only way to leave the house with it (as a civilian) is if you're going to a shooting range/gun club, and it can't be ready to be used in your holster! You have to keep it inside the case, no mag, in the trunk of your car. Or you can just be a thug, buy some cheap ass revolver with the serial number scratched off in your slum and walk around with it tucked in your shorts. Which is what every single thug of the millions of them do. Only the right citizens are unarmed. Honestly, this country's situation is so sad, man. Thousands of murders a year. People leave their houses in fear of being randomly killed for their cellphones or shoes or whatever they have in them. Zombie apocalypse type of vibe. And people don't have the right to defend themselves. God forbid if you manage to take the gun from the thug and shoot him to save your life of the life of your family. When I got my permit in NJ a few years ago, it took 5-6 months to get a permit after getting finger printed and a background check with the fbi. After getting the permit every time you want to buy a new handgun you have to get another permit with a 4-5 month waiting period all over again.

This is the basic requirements. Every state is different however. Some require wait times, licenses, training, etc. Each of these increase time, cost, and unnecessary steps to what should be a simple process.

Shit im in Texas if you have your LTC that thing is an instant background check. Go in 4473 give them my LTC and im out. Only reason i take two hours is because im lookin at the inventory and talking to the guys and gals in my local shop.

In Alaska they apparently don’t do registrations on firearms. Two different shops on four different occasions, one buying a gun and one to reregister one, told me nah your good to go just after this background check. I suppose the only real Alaska gun law is no automatics.

I work at a gun shop in maryland and pistols you have to what’s called a 77R for the state and a 4473 for the feds then a 7 day wait long guns is a 4473

If you got a ccl in texas there is no background check. All you gotta do is show them your license. They still record everything though

in California you have to show proof of residence, usually your drivers license and car registration. my car registration had my name misspelled so they would not accept it. so I had to bring in a utility bill showing my address. we have a 10 day "cooling off period" so you can't get your gun for 10 days, even if you already have 5 guns at home. you have to take a gun safety test that is good for 5 years. we can only get 10 round magazines, and we have a "gun roster" here where we can't buy new versions of many guns. meanwhile possession of a stolen gun is a misdemeanor, and felon in possession gets you a fine. keeping us safe from harm,, got to love California
