Hi Tam, any buying online takes time to work out. Most synth gems sold by dealers is bought in bulk from China and sold at a mark.

Synthetics are becoming more popular. For most it's affordability and the quality natural gems in sapphire,ruby or emerald are all cherry picked. Not good enough to facet a good size gem at the best of times.

I completely agree, synthetic has much better optical qualities, it's cheaper, and is much easier to source. Honestly the gemstone market is a joke, natural stones are only expensive because rich people say they are, but in reality are fairly worthless aside from being something pretty to look at. Diamonds are far more common than most folk think, but companies like DeBeers hoard them in giant vaults to maintain market price, it's really a joke. Either way I'd take synthetic over natural any day. Hell, CZ has better diffraction than diamond does, which is what gives a stone it's "fire".

Put a ton of time and effort into cutting a synthetic, and you end up with a cut synthetic, worth a tiny fraction of a real gemstone...
