Hey, so after buying bitcoin and then storing it into ur muun wallet what do u do next? Will the bitcoin increase in value even when it's in the muun wallet?

Hi Mr H Thank you for getting in touch. The beauty of Bitcoin is that once you've safely transferred it to a wallet you control like Muun wallet, you don't need to do anything. It's like a savings account, once your money is in the account you leave it and let it accumulate value. And yes your Bitcoin will increase and decrease independent of where it is kept. As an example, it's like you putting your gold in a safety deposit box at a bank or keeping it in a safe at home. No matter where it is, it's value will be the same. The vault at the bank my however be the "safer" storage solution. Same with Muun Wallet. It's safer and better to withdraw your Bitcoin to a wallet that you control. Bitcoin has a great track record of increasing significantly over the long term. In the short term it will increase and decrease, but no one has lost money holding Bitcoin for a period of 5 years. So Bitcoin is not something you should speculate with or trade with. The proven strategy is to buy and hold over the long term. I hope that helps. All the best Mr H, Timm & Justin

Hi what other examples of self- custody wallets are there ? Would your recommend Nexo?

Hi Robert Thanks for reaching out. An important distinction worth noting when it comes to Wallets is whether they are custodial or non-custodial. Ideally non-custodial wallets are the way to go because you will then be custodying your own Bitcoin, there is no third party involved. If it's a custodial wallet, it means there is a third party who is holding your Bitcoin. And that poses a serious risk. We've never heard of Nexo. Some other good wallets in addition to Muun wallet are: Blue Wallet Phoenix Wallet Sparrow Zeus But we're most familiar with Muun wallet. Hope that helps. All the best Robert. Timm & Justin

Hi guys. Thanks for the video. When would be the best time of day to send your BC from Luno to Muun to pay the lowest network fee? I've been seeing charges of R400+ for the network fee.

Hi Pjero Thank you for reaching out.😉 Yes fees have been a bit hectic lately. One option is to wait a bit to accumulate more Bitcoin before sending it to Muun, so that the fee as a percentage of the amount of Bitcoin transferred is smaller. An alternative is, Muun has a mempool based fee estimator you can use to pay fees more efficiently. Hi Nelisa Yes Bitcoin (not crypto) is a fascinating asset class. 🥳 Once you start learning about it, you're drawn in because it does so much for human rights, for freedom, for financial inclusion around the world. If you look at our "Is Bitcoin Risky" video, you notice just how bad the current financial system is and how Bitcoin fixes this. Bitcoin gives people hope at a time when our money is losing value and the world is in turmoil. Bitcoin doesn't just give you good returns over the long term, but it teaches you so much about money. Beginner investors can lose money if they trade Bitcoin as opposed to invest in Bitcoin. So we don't recommend buying and selling Bitcoin in the short term. Hi Jade Thank you for reaching out 😃 and well done for dipping your toe into, and learning about Bitcoin. That is very strange. Level 1 generally limites you to R15 000 withdrawals and deposits. Level 2 is meant to limit you to R50 000 and Level 3 verification should allow you unlimited transactions. Perhaps just give it a bit of time. It might just be a timing issue. Hi Charles Thanks for reaching out. When you've downloaded the Luno App, you can click on: "Having Trouble?" Then you can choose to either start the account recovery process by clicking on: "Forgot my email address" or "Forgot my password" And then follow the prompts. Here is some communication from Luno in 2017 on Twitter about your question: "We do not support Swaziland but you will still be able to have a wallet with us to store, receive, and send your cryptocurrency." Hi Charlie Sorry, only saw your message now. Thank you for the great feedback. No one has lost any money holding Bitcoin for a period of 5 years. So it's quite simple: If you want to invest in Bitcoin, just buy it and hold it safely. Treat it like a savings account. You don't need to do anything to it, Bitcoin outperforms all other asset classes over a 5 year period. In 2023 it yielded over 150%! Just like other asset classes, Bitcoin won't perform like this every year. But over a 5 year time horizon, history has shown Bitcoin is the best performing asset class. All the best Charlie. Hi Shayne Thank you for your comment and input. 🙏 I don't know anything about them, but I read this on their site: "Send and receive payments in Utopia own Crypton e-currency." And this raises red flags for me personally🚩🚩🚩. Any organisation that has its own crypto or token I have huge trust issues with. One of the many reasons I support Bitcoin is because there is no identified owner / issuer. No one with their own agenda or incentives. No one that can decide to dilute or issue more tokens and therefore inflate your value away. Otherwise what makes them different from our government with the power to print more units of currency? Many companies use buzzwords like decentralised and peer to peer etc but this is generally not the case. Only Bitcoin is truly decentralised. There is no CEO, there is no marketing department, we are all Bitcoin. For more advanced security I would recommend ColdCard, Trezor, SeedSigner, Blockstream Jade, and companies who I know have a proven track record. Hi Anele Thanks for your question. First, you will need to go into Luno and create a Bitcoin receive address. Kindly refer to this Luno article for guidance. www.luno.com/help/en/articles/1000168402-how-do-i-receive-bitcoin Once you have your address, copy it to your clipboard and open Muun Wallet. From Muun Wallet, Click Send and paste the receive address there. Double check the address is correct, particularly the first 6 and last 6 digits. Enter the amount you want to send and create a description for it. Hit Confirm Note. Check the network fee (send fee) proposed and confirm you are happy to pay this (sometimes it may make sense to delay a transfer until send fees come down a bit - they can fluctuate a lot). Click Send when you are happy. Your funds will now be sent back to Luno. As always, we recommend treating Bitcoin as a long-term savings vehicle (your pension fund, if you will). Since Bitcoin outperforms all other asset classes over the long-run, it makes sense to retain it for as long as possible to protect your financial future. All the best. Justin & Timm

Hi Anele Not too sure. But you must be very careful with other cryptos. They are generally all scams. Only Bitcoin can be trusted in the long term because it is decentralised, completely scarce (only 21 million Bitcoin), has no owner that can change the rules or inflate the supply, is censorship resistant, is seizureship resistant etc. All other cryptos will lose you money over the long term because you don't know if they're going to rugpull you. It would be safer to rather invest in ETF's etc. Try avoid losing money by falling for these ponzi schemes / scams. All the best.

Hi there Hercules, We appreciate your perspective. We too believe that some of their business practices are less than ethical, with a focus on profit-making rather than what is best for the end user. That said, the reality is that they remain one of the easiest and most reliable methods of acquiring Bitcoin for new users in South Africa. And for this reason, and this reason alone, we are comfortable recommending them. But as we always say - Never trust an exchange. Take your money into your own custody as soon as possible, by transferring it off the exchange (Luno) and into a wallet that you control. Bitcoin is an incredible tool of empowerment and we want as many South Africans as possible to own Bitcoin.
