This video was extremely useful and extremely helpful especially since I'm more than likely gonna buy the battleborn battery. But the calculation itself is extraordinarily helpful i deeply appreciate this video it is the best video I have seen all this topic and I keep looking and everyone explains what it is but not how to do the calculation properly I deeply deeply appreciate this video!

Great job Ross! Still one off the best help for the newbies!just want to add without encroaching on the personal choices you make for your videos, the device that measures the current, Ah, eh.. which connects online also has a consumption, so pay attention to the result, in any case of my , experience :)) , which gives extra headroom. .. what is great:))💪🏻👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼

Thanks for watching Phil! Great point on the power analyzer, I have seen some of them have separate plugs for their own power supply. That makes sense. Thanks for your support on this channel!

Great video! You get an even better estimation if you account for efficiency or energy losses. For example, a power converter will require power to convert the power.

Thanks Joel but that was covered in the video regarding the inverter.

Just found you, hey thank you!! I have a brain that is slow on numbers (good on mechanics though). I love the way you did this, I even downloaded the vid so i can watch again & study the teachings. PEACE!

Awesome Shep, glad that was helpful! Yes this topic can be kind of heavy on the numbers. I'm glad this video was able to be a resource for you. It's a powerful topic once you know how to run the numbers. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching David, yes it can be a lot of guestimating to figure out how long things will run, but calculating something will still give you a good idea of what kind of battery capacity you need.

Hi I’m a truck driver and I am thinking of taking a 12v LED TV & PS4 to play for 2hrs per night! both low wattage. Really confused as to what set I need!
@sharonferra111 Жыл бұрын
Ross. I have 4 12v sla batteries that are wired as 24v into a 3000 growatt inverter hooked to 4 230v panels 35.7(voc) i am confused about the amp hrs available. They are 190ah each. So is that 760ah x 12? The reason i ask this is because my system got very low last night and system started beeping. Anyhow if this is not the forum to ask this question please just let me know. I am a beginner and really want to understanding how to use the system and really felt like this video gave me a bit more information but still a little confused. Thanks
@justincox7190 Жыл бұрын
Simply add the ah of each battery. You say 190ah x 4 = 760. That's it my dewd. Don't over think it.

What about a diesel or gas heater fan pure hour.

if you are drawing that much amps to run toaster its amp draw is very high for the battery causing damage to battery due to the draw? battery C rating being the draw should not be more than a certain level. to deal with this you need a capacitor between them to level out the inital draw? Can 1 use say a microwave capacitor 1.1 uf 2100vac between the inverter and battery to level out the inital draw made of the battery.
@fck457 ай бұрын
The toaster runs off AC not DC (AC is 120V) The battery goes to a DC to AC inverter then you plug toaster into that but not all batteries are the same discharge rate! Check to see what the battery is rated at very important!

Ross here is my issue. I have a Xantrex charger inverter ( widely used in vans) on a home backup application in the event of power failure. I have 6 - 6V Trojan L16RE-B deep cycle LA batteries in series parallel to deliver 12v. I live in a tropical enviornment and these have lasted 10 years but are showing signs of fatigue. The 20 hr rating on the bank is 1230 AH. I am being specific here but would be interested in a general response on different battery types of various sizes (pros and cons). As you know there have been a lot of advancements in batt. Tech over this period and there is now a plethora of different technologies including Lion (fires), LiFePo4, LA, AGM. It would be nice to go to one location (one of your videos) and have this addressed. You do a great job in addressing various issues so this is some thought for an upcoming video.

SO THE TOASTER NEEDS TO BE WIRED WITH #4 AWG ?
@fck457 ай бұрын
Toaster is AC not DC it would be running through a inverter. If the toaster was DC wire size would be different

So, I think the highest energy consumption in a RV have: air condition, oven, refrigerator/freeze, (momentarily) coffee/hot water machine, vacuum cleaner!, power tools, ...
